There’s been some buzz around lately – with auctions for purported leaked toys on Taobao and assumed early releases – that Takara-Tomy was revisiting Transformers Henkei one more time to release the Classics Ultra Magnus for its market complete with full white legs like the Generation 1 toy. The more skeptical of us were, well, skeptical.
Here’s the reality though. Transformers Henkei Ultra Magnus is for real. It’s coming out as a new Asia exclusive release, due out late September / early October 2012 – in other words, it’s not a revival of the Henkei line by Takara-Tomy but an Asian market exclusive, like a growing number of items recently.
If you would like a Generation 1 accurate version of Classics Ultra Magnus, it’s up for preorder now at Robot Kingdom.

Ah, right, thanks! I totally forgot about those, especially the releases with the coins included.

LOL, I agreed. I guess, they didn't feel like changing the pipe light blue plastic behind his head and eyes. This is the only exception where Magnus is allowed to have red eye. Otherwise, it's should be blue for the most part and sometime yellow. And hopefully that FOC UMagnus doesn't have red eyes, ehhe.

Don't forget they did the RotF Buster Optimus & Jetfire 2 pack as well.
Also all the eHOBBY stuff is offered to those countries outside of Japan (without the eHOBBY comics and such).
There are also the reissues and Masterpiece figures that end up coming with an extra coin or what have you that are exclusive to the Asian market outside of Japan (Japan gets them, just not with the exclusive coin, etc).

Takara is apparently branching out more into the Asian market, at least in terms of exclusives (I think their stuff has been available in Asia already, which makes sense since they're close in proximity). They've already offered that DotM Jetwing Optimus Black Version and the recent Asian Market reissue Sixshot as Asian exclusives, so this is hardly a new development.
If Hasbro's starting to offer stuff specifically to the Asian market, why wouldn't Takara?

Last I saw, FP doesn't need to make more because they still have some in stock. FP raised the wholesale price which lead retailers to raise their prices. So all this hope that FP reissuing old kits to bring down prices is not really a great idea in practice. The price is where it is because the FP reissues put it there.
I'm confused by RK's pre-order. Takara does business in Japan. Hasbro Asia deals with the rest of Asia outside of Japan so why would Takara have a Asia only exclusive? Also if it's Takara then it'll be full cases of Ultra Magnus so we wouldn't have to worry about crappy case ratios like the GDO stuff.

How did they miss the red eyes.

I think the problem is that its too plain. The Hasbro Magnus is a homage to the armored Magnus. Hence the blue on the legs, arm and face. This all white version references the white cab. Which many of us have been condemning since DW busted Magnus out of his shell. But since Takara is releasing it, all is good. Fascinating.

Why did they watermark all of MY pics?
Kind of douchey to be honest with you.
Stepper
The white parts definitely looks much more whiter compare to the Hasbro version
dardmc
the pure white color scheme is really bland.. although there are chrome parts i pressume.. but will definitely get this one since it has 1 of the great molds tfs has done..
Lbsammills51
I agree…seeing more pics of it, there is something about it I can't quite put my finger on. Maybe that it's not quite the same white, nor quite as plain, as the original Magnus cab toy it's meant to reference?
Automorpher
I can justify buying this release again as a standalone, NOT with the City Commander kit.
From the pics, it just looks odd somehow…

Its about time Takara released it. What took them so long to print money like this? I think the United line would be more appropriate for this release though. If it really is Henkei then it may have chrome, which would make a big difference.

Thanks for the clarification!

Starscream EZ's point is that although the Generations GDO figures (the ones that have been slated for a US release via TRU) are coming from Hasbro Asia, with Hasbro deciding to release them domestically after all. This Magnus, however, is a Takara release and Takara releasing Magnus (even as an Asian exclusive, like the Generations GDO figures were originally slated to be), that does not correlate to a Hasbro release via either Hasbro Asia or Hasbro US, so hoping that Magnus gets a Voyager slot with Hot Spot/Powerdive/G2 Megatron isn't likely unless Hasbro turns around and decides to rerelease Ultra Magnus using this mold and this deco or something similar to it.
Robot Kingdom does require you to pay when you order.
Dark Skull
They charge, but they're good on shipping it out to you when they get the items in. I think I might go grab me one or…two….
REMINATOR
RK charges you upfront, already got that experience with my preorder MP12, 13, ehhe.
VictoryLeo19
I believe they charge, but I could be wrong I've never done it from there. Yeah this figure is awesome. Absolutely amazing. I'm really digging the new paint deco more than the original, and I didn't think I was going to.
FatalT 71
I really want this figure – I've been looking for a Magnus for a while, and this could be my best shot. Does Robot Kingdom charge you when you preorder or do they wait until they ship?

I'm lost with all of these exclusives, are they're the same, not, etc:
Asian Exclusive
Hasbro Asia

What are you guys try to say here?
