The World's Finest Assassin Gets Reincarnated in Another World as an Aristocrat was great this week. Even though it was uncomfortable to watch.

Rewatching Pani Poni Dash after quite a few years. Used to be one of my favorite comedies, though I'm not sure it really aligns so much with my sense of humor these days.

Along those lines, I'm watching using my old DVDs since the quality on Funimation wasn't any better than them. I had forgotten there were so many Japanese (pop) culture references in this series that the DVDs (ADV release; no clue about Funimation's) had a whole subtitle track just for them.

Let me ask, what is the appeal of One Piece?

The idea of an epic pirate adventure sounds fun. But the sheer length of both the anime and the manga make me hesitant. NTM I’m iffy on the art style.

And I know all about the infamous 4Kids dub, but how is the Funimation dub?

I've finished Samurai Champloo the other day. Looks plain on the surface but it's so much more once you watch it that you love the series for more than just cool samurai sword fights.

for an anime series this old (came out in 2004), that leans heavily on fanservice, and is based on an American comic book series, I've come to enjoy this.

Its aesthetic sense is highly questionable, but its sentimentality is earnest and thoughtful. Big boobs, but even bigger feels.

The first ending theme, "Ashita no Te" is easily one of my favourites in all of anime. Such a sweet, lullaby-sounding theme, which is super appropriate to the show's "motherhood" theme.

If I wanted to try the series out, what order do they go in?

I'd just go in production order.

Take or leave the 2006 anime by Studio DEEN. It takes a lot of flack nowadays for its lower production values (but it's fairly competent for when it was made), but it does the best job of introducing the "rules" of the Fate series (for what little they're inevitably worth...), as it largely adapts the "core" story route of the visual novel, with some embellishments borrowed from the other story routes to pad its runtime and provide a more balanced showing for its characters.

If you wind up ignoring that, then start with Fate/Zero, and then Unlimited Blade Works, and then Heaven's Feel.

Zero is the prequel story, and it'll do a better job of setting up some of the back story that UBW and Heaven's Feel slightly gloss over. But if you do opt to watch the DEEN series, then do that before Zero. Not just so that you won't have to deal with the backslide in quality, but because it's sort of a Star Wars prequel scenario, where Fate/Stay Night is the original, "main" story, and watching the prequel first kinda gives away some of its mysteries.

Ultimately, though, F/SN, UBW, and HF stand alone. They're not sequential stories, but alternate story paths with the same basic starting point. They branch out and quickly become mutually exclusive of each other. Heaven's Feel should absolutely be last, though, because in movie form, it severely skips and truncates much of the early material that largely runs parallel to the other story paths, so you're going to be very confused. F/SN and UBW both tell the complete stories from beginning to end, more or less.

That's as far as the main story goes, anyways. There are a number of other "alternate" series nowadays, as well, with Apocrypha, Grand Order: Babylonic Front, Extra: Last Encore, and Kaleid having anime adaptations so far. All of those tend to be "alternate reality" continuities. They sort of rely on you being familiar with the rules and characters established in F/SN, UBW, or HF for a lot of their fanservice moments, and to put their own spins on the rules set forth by the main continuity, but are otherwise completely separate and are not canon with either the main series or each other.
