I was afraid the head would be too huge and doofy, but it actually came off very tastefully angular. I still have no reason to buy this because I have no connection to the old Fort Max and his intermediate Headmaster is sort of... nondescript?

Also, what sort of voice samples would he have? Quotes from the Omni Dub? Darn it!

I kinda of have my doubts. If they're going for a posable head then they might for a brand new socket. Would be cool it if were otherwise though as it'd also mean you can still put Megatron Megabolt on there as well.

Damn it, I didn't want to want this. I'm more of a Marvel guy where he's about PM Optimus size and thought I'd convinced myself to pass on this.
Blurr and Chromedome are definitely nice though.

 

There's some nice retooling here. Fortress Maximus certainly looks like this true self instead of just another version of Metroplex.

 

I'm not sure I like the whole "Emissary" rename. If "Spike" isn't available, can't Hasbro just call him "Splick"?[/obscure reference]

 

Much better than I expected; I think the proportions work better than Metroplex... I hate the idea of spending $150+ for a remold, but for once it's actually tempting.

 

It seems to emulate the base mode shown in the 1987 G1 catalog included with figures. I would have preferred a city mode like the original too, but this will suffice.

What's that hinge on his chest? Do his shins open up? Does the red panel on his right forearm still open up?I feel like there's still a lot of unanswered questions with this guy. Wish I could see the back of his box.

Can Fort Max's lower legs unfold like metroplex's legs do? i mean its basically the same leg.

 

I like Fort Max, but not enough to want to get the mold a second time.

I do like that they replaced Spike with the Emissary. Nice nod to RID and being able to avoid the complications of having a human in the line.
