You know you've drank the kool aid when you spot tfs-express has put up a MP44 price of £289 UK pounds and think "Ohh, that's cheap"

(Seriously, I was expecting minimum of £350...)

 

44 looks nothing like Magnus. Not even in the ball park.

Unless your talking a comic Magnus. If so , I have no idea what he looks like anymore .

 

If they're going to do a Magnus repaint they should wait to repaint the + version.

I pre-ordered MP-44 from Amazon Japan. If it looks like it will cost less than $300 altogether to get it in my hands, I won't cancel*. In the meantime, I'll be trying to figure out why I'm still doing this: Not a favorite character, not the most exciting alt-mode, tons of accessories I don't care about, matching vanilla styling of the animation model, etc.

Who am I trying to impress with my collection? Will anyone ever see any of it? Am I undercutting future finances on this rubbish?


*How do I know - prior to the August cancellation date - what the lowest price was, over the ten months this was on pre-order?? As I understand it, I will be charged the lowest price the item "cost" during the pre-order period. Do I have this wrong?

Ah.....thanks for reminding me Booster Gold I also did pre-order and purchase MP-29+ recently and paid it in full so I definitely do qualify for it. Ahhh...poetic justice, it's so sweet, it's only fair this had to happen and balance things out given my surprisingly lukewarm reception to MP-29+.

Looks like I'm back in the TFS Express camp again.

Amazon in general is really good at this. I've PO'd via Amazon.com, Amazon.ca and Amazon.co.jp. They have always honored the lowest PO price. That is their PO price guarantee and the terms for doing business with them when placing a PO (an incentive to PO with them you might say).

MP-44 for example... When I PO'd it, it was at 34255 yen, now my order lists it as 33581 yen and has dropped my total from 40045 yen (including shipping and import fees to Canada) to 39371 yen as of now. Most of the orders I've placed with them always came in at lower cost than my original PO or the same (if there were never any price changes). If you really want to know, you have your original email order that lists the original costs you were quoted. Flag that and check periodically with what the site order to compare what you may save (or not). Regardless, cost will never be higher than what you are originally quoted for.

 

This is like the freaking holy grail of Transformers. I doubt a little price hike will hinder my efforts. I'll be on the case much like that knight from Excalibur the movie! I must find the grail!

 

As much as it pains me to say it, having spent around $600 on the classic trio of seekers, I think that mold needs a refresh. I was close to getting the MT versions, but ultimately they just weren't what I wanted in an upgrade to MP-11.

I'd rather see some of the characters we don't have yet before a new Starscream happens, although I'm sure it'll be coming sooner than that.

 

Not as such, although I would love to see Takara have another go at a toon-accurate Ultra Magnus which improves on MP-22. I'm a fan of the improved articulation in the recent Masterpiece releases, so I would be very curious to see an Ultra Magnus redo with MP-44/MP-36 like articulation. If this hypothetical update also had better proportions than MP-22, then all the better.  

 

Indeed, but before a new Magnus, we need a new Rodimus Prime first.

 

I look forward to how TT is going to hide those fins.

 

I'd be fine with just taking the damn things off like I used to do with the original G1 toy. Oh, but that would make a "partsformer" and we can't have that.

 

I look forward to having a Starscream that has an upper body that will tab in.

It would be nice to have an upgraded Decepticon display to go with MP Megatron, but I think I'll be having my Megatron perpetually squaring off with MP-44. I'll have to figure out something else to do with the inevitable v.3 Starscream.
