... which reason? It already does a hell lot for the money. Next step is a more involved transformation and a faster and more natural walking speed.

I could justify $500, but that's the absolute ceiling for me. Pretty asinine that this smaller "cheaper" version is around the price that the larger, original one first debuted at.

It would be adorable if his tape mode had some wheels on the bottom so you could gave him creep across the desk in the hopes that someone will pick him up and take him into the Autobot's base.

This is such a ripoff in my opinion. And I thought the original was overpriced lol.

I feel like the original was reasonably priced at the original release price of around $750, considering what it is and how large it is. But when they jacked up the price after the initial release, that was absurd. And this one should’ve been priced at around $500. If they jack up the price on this one, too, I don’t see it selling. There wouldn’t be a compelling reason to get it over the original.

I do think the truck mode looks a bit better on the new version. The cab is better proportioned. It reminds me of the difference between the MP 01 and MP10 cabs in truck mode.

$700 for a smaller version of a toy that when released in its original size was also $700 (if not $599). Yeah, okay.

And their new higher price for old product has zero justification other than what scalpers were able to get away with based on demand. Way to go Robosen, you’re no better than Amazon.

Robosen Optimus Prime is an incredible product. It’s expensive, but to me it’s worth the price tag given all that it’s capable of. It may just be the highlight of my collection.

Releasing an only slightly smaller version of it is an interesting business decision. I guess it’s a nice option for those who didn’t already buy the original. For those of us who have, this version probably isn’t for us but the upcoming trailer certainly is.

What drives me crazy is they've been working away at this (because it's $$$) and STILL haven't fixed the PC programming app (because it's free). I understand they're a business, but come on, fix the damn app!

Yeah, I would have been fine with a version at half the size, at $500.

At this rate, maybe we’ll get there in a few years! :D

I would by an army of these at voyager size for $150-250 a piece. I love my giant Optimus, but he does take up quite a bit of space!

Yeah, it's amazing how the price jumped $300 and one year. I got the one from last year so I'm good

I legitimately think we will. I got the same vibes from the initial announcement of the first one as I did from the initial announcement of MP 1, Wayback in 2003. Obviously we’re talking two different price brackets here, but they both involved new innovations in how transformers work that eventually spread out to other products. I’m sure it’s only a matter of time before we get middle level transforming robots at lower prices, using the same sorts of servos and technology.

Smacks of what food companies are doing. Downsizing products & selling for same original price.
