UPDATE #7: CAMPAIGN EXTENSION!

MMC/PSX R-50 Supermax fundraiser update.

With the deadline looming and only 418/800 units pre sold we have decided to extend the fundraiser event until March 20th, after TFcon LA!

The plan was originally to pre sell 800/800 via PSX and Taobao respectively, thereby meeting approximately 50% of the factory's required 3000 units. Mastermind Creations have been kind enough to cover the low Taobao numbers meaning a minimum of 800 must be met here on Planet Steel Express only.

This is the final push, you now have 3 more weeks to help make this design a reality!

UPDATE #6: PSX vs TaoBao

There has been concern over what happens if the Asian market numbers don't reach 800. A total of 1600 preorders need to be met for a minimum production run. MMC has amended this so that ONLY the PSX numbers will matter for this crowdfund. MMC themselves will cover whatever the Asian market won't for the second half of the minimum.

UPDATE #1 (FEB 2ND): SHIPPING & PRICE

People have been asking about when the rest of the payment is due, and if shipping is included in the preorder. Planet Steel Express has given a reply to both on their Facebook page. To recap:

* Shipping is not included in the price. Expected to be $15-20.
* You only pay $50 now. The rest of the price, be it $180 or $150, will only be charged when it's ready for release.

Due to the overwhelming response to Rick Akker's fantastic design we have decided to work with MMC to help make this a reality!

Supermax will be 11" tall and boasts high quality materials including diecast with new levels of articulation previously unseen in the market.
Featuring double jointed elbows and knees, ab crunch, shoulder butterfly joint, individual fingers, toe tilt plus way more! Check the animations that Rick Akker has prepared below.



800 backers will need to make a non-refundable deposit of *HK$400.00 (around US$50.00) to bring this project to life.
Final price will be **HK$1800.00 (US$230.00).

The development is going to take 12 months from prototyping to initial release. PSX will work with MMC to provide updates which will be posted to facebook and the PSX blog. Below is the projected timeline for Supermax.

Any chance of adding a chart of some sort that shows how many people have put into it once folks start pre-ordering?

 

Hell yeah! I wish the crowd-fund window was a bit wider, I hope I can contribute but may have to wait until it's out. Great to see that MMC decided to help get this beauty made!

 

It's awesome that only a $50 deposit is needed and not the full $230, as that should help folks out immensely. Also, doing both the pre-order and final release during tax time certainly won't hurt it's chances any.  

 

Unfortunately PSX does not (currently?) have that feature, but daily updates will be given as to the status of the preorders.

That's the best part about how MMC is handling this. You don't have to pay the entire thing up front. Just a down payment of 50, which gives you a whole year to save up for it. Plus there are the exclusive features as added incentive!

 

Does the price include shipping?

 

Is it possible to have the choice of paying it all off at once?

 

Couple of questions before i put my cash in:

1) Is shipping included in the final price? Some PSX releases are free shipping (the preorders I think?)
2) If no - can PSX give a rough shipping cost, say based on Carnifex or similar? $230 + shipping to the UK could be another big wedge of cash  
3) Will this see a general retailer release?
4) When will final balance be needed to be paid?
