Ok, so, do you feel Dirge, Ramjet & Thrust need to be cone heads no matter what their alt mode is?

The way I see it, the cone head comes from the F-15 nose cone. Millions of years ago on Cybertron, way before the F-15 was invented on Earth, the Tetrajets didn't have nose cones. So why should they be coneheads? Does it make any sense?

Yes, they always need the cones; it adds to the flavor of their characters along with the unique wings. Without that they feel much more like generic bullies and don't stand out much from Skywarp.

Why would a Tetrajet have a conehead? Where does the cone come from? Just because the Earth versions were in the cartoon why does that dictate that they always have to look like that?

And do they always have to be jets? What if the situation dictated that they needed to disguise themselves as a boat or a train?

I just can't wrap my mind around the way the average Transformers fan thinks. I don't understand why everything always has to strictly follow the G1 cartoon. They were F-15 variants, Earth vehicles in the G1 cartoon. I mean Hasbro made Dirge out of the Cybertron Starscream mold & it clearly wasn't a conehead. So doesn't that tell you that without the F-15 nose cone there is no reason for them to be coneheads???

Why do your Tetrajets have cockpit chests then?

It's not a nosecone but more like a noseneedle? Like, maybe they're needleheads?

I wouldn't read too much into a subseries of straight redecos to fullfill a Target exclusive quota.

Sure, I get it, why not give Batman a Domino mask with no points at the top at all, why not give Spiderman a pink and purple polkadot cape or make Voltron a superhero group of teenagers from New Jersey who ride only their skateboards into a dance battle

I’m just joking really but it’s call character recognition

I remember a lot of people not being very happy with that saying it just didn’t look like Dirge

Yeah, I know. Not too fond of that either. But I could change that. Pop it off & re-sculpt it then make a mold. Make it look more square like the Impossible toys version. But it would be a lot of work. I might try it though. It would be really cool to have seekers that nobody else has.

Personally, my headcanon is that the Cone helmets are ceremonial- old-fashioned cybertronian pilot gear that the Coneheads wear as a sign of pride and heritage. They are worn purely for aesthetic purposes, as the technology in them is obsolete.

I think that Dirge, Ramjet and Thrust should always have Coneheads.

The wings and coneheads are what sets them apart, so absolutely.

Also, we don't know what the coneheads altmode was on Cybertron. Maybe they were a different shape (most likely considering their Wings) and thus it does make sense.

However, I agree that this should either mean their altmode should have such a nosecone, or that the shapes of the heads should resemble the nose of the jet (more angular).

That's pretty cool. I used to be 100% against coneheads because they look so stupid but now I'm like 50/50. They don't bother me as much anymore but I still prefer the original toy head.

But 1 thing I still absolutely despise is when people display the G1 toys with the cone straight up. Transformed wrong on purpose & the cone is like 7 feet tall.

It's the same reason why some version of G1 inspired Megatron has the chest and scope looking fusion cannon, it has become an iconic trait for the character.

Ditto. The G1 toys were clearly never meant to be transformed that way. It's so weird to see the cartoon mistransform them to differ them from other Seekers and that becomes the norm. Kind of like how Ultra Magnus's cab mode in the cartoon was completely ignored and that somehow became the norm for years until Dreamwave went there.

This kinda reminds me of the first episode of G1 where everyone had Earth robot modes and Cybertronian alt modes. Bumblebee had a Volkswagen on his feet millions of years before they were invented

I dunno, I don’t have much attachment to the coneheads, so I don’t really care.
