Very cool. Interesting to see them side by side and compare the differences (Wish there'd been a retail release of Needlenose in from the Fireflight mold, for even more symmetry).

Volcanicus got some new shoes and gauntlets today! Well, one of them did, anyway. The set for my other one is on its way. I've also preordered PC-23 from the Chosen Prime and we'll see how that works out.

HOORAY! Been planning to get that combo for ages, still waiting for one of the toys to come out local, but I finally see how they all look together.
    Thanks so much!

Tailgate showed up in the UK comics for only one story, appearing on the cover looking like he was about to crap himself. He was as much of a no mark as I can recall. I mean, getting trained off Outback hardly marks you out as the most memorable of 'bots. In fact Trypticon's made up companion Wipe Out, whose character model was based on Tailgate, made more of an impression on me than Tailgate.

But, while he's just a minor retool of Windcharger, yer G1 Tailgate is quietly quite lovely. The colour scheme is great, with the white of the car mode/limbs standing out so well from the dark green/blue of his torso. And that headsculpt is so good and looks so moody that it's even quite a poor match for such an unassuming wee guy.

And I REALLY need to get a new one! That broken wheel is shameful!

The years fly by like puffins through arctic mist and not many people spare Tailgate a thought until James Roberts needs a naive p.o.v character that everyone can do exposition at. Rather than comics having to fall in line with the toys suddenly we're getting brilliant comic based designs In the Thrilling:30 line, like Springer, Swerve, and...Tailgate? Well, maybe not that last one.

Ok, on the upside the car mode is brilliant. It's a great looking little Pontiac. A car which, as an unrepentant Smokey & the Bandit fan, I've always had a massive soft spot for. There are some nice touches, like the blue flames, and the exhaust detail. But the robot mode. Oh, the robot mode. It's just all wrong. The spindly too long legs, massive Popeye arms, big back panel behind his tiny near detail free head, and the hip kibble that bring back dark memories of MP-O3. I think many of us were probably quite keen for Hasbro to take another pass at Tailgate.

And PotP is, perhaps, going out on a limb to satisfy all tastes. Ok, you've already got your wonky IDW version. Now all those of us clamouring for an update based on some platonic ideal of toy/animation model have had our prayers answered.

As if you didn't know, PotP Tailgate is the inevitable redo of PotP Windcharger. Deco aside, the only change I can see is the head. And frankly I think Tailgate wears the mold so much better than Windcharger. It takes me a moment to adjust, being so used to the IDW style, but once I've recalibrated and got my head round this being Tailgate I am...rather satisfied! All the strengths of the robot mode shine through without that weird head mold distracting me. Downside are that super gappy chest and fists bigger than his head. I think I've always preferred this colour scheme compared to the Windcharger one. The vehicle mode is still a reliable little vroom vroom, with an extra dash of Miami Vice white sheen.

How likely is it that we'll get a redeco of the new Tailgate as Wipe-Out? Because honestly I'd be all over that

Ugh! Me too! As for how likely; hard to say when we know so little about how the new WfC is going to pan out. Part of me would have been more psyched to see Wipe-Out in PotP than Tailgate.

Same but I mean I guess we can just paint Tailgate into Wipe-Out if he never sees a release.

I'm decent at painting I think Tailgate wouldn't take much to turn him into Wipe-Out.

    Cyclonus.
I bought two of them during CW wars to keep one in bot mode and one in torso mode.

Then I bought various spare limbs to repaint into G2 themed colors, but never got around to doing it, and also could not find any more cheap jet limbs.
So when they announced the masterforce jets........HUZZAH! My G2 themed Galvatronus Lives on again!
I even dug out the 3 bots I have today to get them into one spot (instead of in storage) for when the other bot comes out here later in the year (OZ).
Also: I HATE the starscream torso (not yours, just any of them), much prefer the fan repaint that used the cyclonus repainted into starscream from the CW line, looked amazing - and really made a lot of folks wonder if that was an idea that got scrapped (the chest and crown were just a little TOO co-incidental in my book).
I think Hasbro are idiots for not releasing the one (bottom of post) repainted into Starscream, instead of that shambolic mess with topsy turvy angles everywhere. Hurts my eyes just to look at that design really.

(Old fan custom below, that I first saw here ages back in TFW in the CW thread...much better than the new starscream combiner torso they released imo, don't know who did it sorry)

I'll come over Sunday and paint your lounge room walls into combat megatron colors for you.

that video is cool. I actually originally downloaded that background because I had a Mike Grell Era Green Arrow custom and in that era of GA, he lived in Seattle

    Oh? Cool.
The way he was standing there at the side of the road, with the traffic rushing around him just reminded me of that video clip.
