Just like the thread title states, are you using the replacement hips for FP

I just acquired a set of FP Dinos and am wondering if I should switch out the hips on Columpio or not.

Bonus question, how many Volar owners use the blue torso or red torso?

Final add-on, does anyone have a black head for Cubrar that they'd like to trade for my red one? PM me if interested.

 

I have both Columpio's (the tfcon version had even looser hips than the retail version). Just for posability's sake I definitely recommend sticking to the regular hips. You just gotta use some pledge/future or superglue to tighten the hip sockets.

Bonus Q: if you are getting the whole set (regular release) I think the red chest will be much nicer for a cohesive group, well for the first three atleast.

 

I use the new hips for my Columpia, but yes, they do limit the articulation pretty substantially. I have been using the red torso for Volar for a cohesive team look, but am considering switching to blue for cartoon accuracy.

 

If your hips are loose, or become, just remove the leg from the hip area (ball joints), and add gorilla tape or other tape inside the caveat, and problem solved (much better than future floor as it needs to much the whole needs to much closing up to get proper tightness, so harder with liquid and takes longer than with tape). That is what i did. Not sure what the new hips did, been a while and forgot, but if it was ratcheted, then i still prefer the tape trick, i get best of both world, tight joint and superior articulation ball joints (hip ratchets bug the flick out of me).

 

I use the new ones. I remember them being a PITA to install though because of the stupid springs in his legs that come out when you unscrew them.

I use red chest Volar.

 

Blue chest. I always preferred him that way. I have other red chested Swoops, too, so it's nice to have one set with that option

 

I didn't make the switch mainly because I misplaced the new ones...

 

With Volar, I bought the TFCon version to serve as blue-chested Swoop and kept the normal Volar's default red chest on to serve as toy Swoop/Diaclone Pterobot.

As for Sludge, I've meant to swap the replacement hips on but haven't gotten around to it. I remember my normal Columpio's hips not being bad out of the box but the TFCon version's being much looser so I may use them on the "Diaclone" version instead.

 

I keep my FP dinos in dino mode, but I did transform him a few times after his hip replacement.

Volar's red chest matches the rest of them, but his blue chest looks way better.

The best thing I ever did for the FP Dinos was to get the reprolabels. Normally I'm hot and cold on repros; most figures have enough detail without them, but they were a vast improvement here.

 

If you want solid hips then ratchets is the way to go! I love ratchets by the way!

I use new hips.

Blue chest. Red didn't lock arms on place. Luckily I prefer blue anyway.

 

Based on memory because I bailed on FP products when it seemed even Grimlock wasn't going to get ever released, I kept the original Columpio hips before selling it. I had no issues out of the box. Volar I did red chest.

FP products seemed pretty good when even in full force with products, accept maybe paint apps here and there. Seems like the Con exclusives, whether FP or MMC, had more issues over the general release so that will be a crap shoot.

 

I bought mine used and loose. Pretty sure its just the stock hips. Not sure if its the TFCon version or the regular retail but they seem fine to me.

I think I'm gonna ride out my original hips for a while and see how they hold up.

Also sticking with the red torso on Volar, for now.

I only use the stock hips, but I did apply a couple of coats of clear nail polish to the ball joints.

 

Yeah, floor polish and I was done.

 

I'd be happy to trade my black head for your red one. I live in Italy, though, so it might take a long while.

I never got the hip replacements sadly. Would have loved some though
