I'll see this because: A: The original show 'Get Smart' was fucking awesome. and B: I have a VERY unhealthy obsession with Anne Hathaway.
My Mom is peeved that they're making a movie out of Get Smart. She did the shake of shame when she found out Steve Carell was going to be Maxwell Smart (pretty much like she did when they said Daniel Craig was gonna be Bond). I've got no opinion on Carell, the first time I ever heard of Get Smart was when they released the Teaser Trailer for the movie. It looks funny, or at least, the "The Element of Surprise....!!!!" Bit was anyhow. Hathaway looks awesome. The Second Trailer was even funnier.
dude, i am so with you on that...i've sat through the devil wears prada, princess diaries 1 and 2, ella enchanted and brokeback mountain to see her... and i think this look cool...and i loved the old get smart series...
Works for me. I agree on both accounts. Movie looks fun.Plus it has the Rock and Hiro from Heroes. Awesome.
Who doesn't think Anne Hathaway is hot? Anyway, it looks amusing, but only for a rental. I've never found Carrell to be very funny.
I'll pass, Steve Carrell to me is about as funny as a kick in the face with football boots. And I just have too much love for Don Adam's voice, as both Maxwell Smart and Inspector Gadget.
I honestly can't think of anyone better than Carrell or Hathaway to be Max & 99. Maybe Don Adams & Barbara Feldon...
Oh, I agree. I'm sick of all these remakes, prequels/sequels for money's sake (not story), and adaptations of novels, cartoons, video games, and comic books (did I miss anything?). There's no (as) original (as possible) ideas in Hollywood anymore. And, since there's no stopping it, I do appreciate when they try to do it right (like Peter Cullen voicing Prime, or Iron Man's armor).
If there was ever a movie based off an old show to be made, I am glad it's this one. I absolutely love Get Smart, and I believe Carrell is the best choice for the character. His style and look completely fit the Maxwell Smart character. Maybe not as much as Don Adams, but you can NEVER beat the original. I really think this movie will do the original series justice. I will be seeing this movie opening day.
DOES NOBODY HERE CARE FOR THE ROCKS ACTING CAREER? Well I sure as hell do and will see this because of him.
I find the Rock surprisingly unbad on screen, at least compared to any other wrestler who has tried acting anyway.
I find I can only take Carrell in very small doses (Anchorman). Still I am also surprised how much I seem to enjoy the Rock in films (I did like that stapler bit). If this movie was "the Rock and Alan Arkin do stuff plus Anne Hathaway occasionally half naked" I'd be sold. As it is it's looking more like a rental down the line. I was shocked how much I enjoyed The Rundown the first time I saw it.
