Inviting comments and criticism - I really suck at image editing but I wanted this bad enough to work on it. I was trying to replicate the squadron shield that came with the Takara MP Seekers. A member here was gracious enough to scan an unused sheet for me, and when I set out to copy it I noticed that it had "Decepticon" misspelled (!?). So, I dug around to find a good shield to start with, and this is draft #1 for the decals I hope to make.

As it turns out from my rudimentary searching, the phrase "hunter-seeker" doesn't really have a good translation to Latin - the word for seeker is something like "someone who searches for knowledge", which isn't very seeker-like. In the end I settled on a rough translation of "forever hunting"

The lettering overlaps a little bit, I think I need to redo the path that the text follows.

That's an interesting idea - let me get the seeker project finished, and then I'll see what I can come up with. I think a shield without the ribbon or maybe a circle design might look more like a car badge. It would be a good excuse to figure out how to do beveled edges.

SQ7: I picked up some decal paper yesterday, and already have the nameplate display stand designs that shadowstitch did for all 6 seekers, so I hope to have a very rudimentary conehead set soon - all I need are tailfin letters, and then I'll just have to see if it will work better as decals or as stickers.

Update: Yeah, I think I can do something that looks more like a car badge - this was something I was playing with once I finished the USAF roundel:

naw ive been in awhile and am a USAF brat so i truely can apprieciate the old school...LOL..looks good..

try as i might i still dig the old school USAF insignias/bdu's etc..its a different USAF and those old symbols remind me of a time when the USAF was not as political and PC as it is now..still glad i got to experience it tho..

I would have to agree - I think the new logo looks ok, but it's more like something made for marketing and branding - looks good on a coffee cup or letterhead, but doesn't look good painted on the side of a plane. Don't get me started on the uniforms.....

Quaddy is referring to himself in the 3rd person...awwww, he's losing it, poor guy. :p

But I agree both ideas are very nice...Like what you chose for the translation.. they are constantly seeking Energon. :thumb

Really love the USAF emblem and your take on that one!! :thumb

(Would be better with an Autobot insignia tho) :lol

Started working on tailfin lettering. Thrust and Dirge will require some consideration. Thrust's could probably just be scaled down, but I haven't figured out how to do Dirge yet. I wound up frustrated with the clear label stock that I got, Avery "clear" labels are in not clear, in any way shape or form - I got water-slide decal stock, though for convenience I would rather have them as stickers. I guess we'll have to see what ends up working better.
