James Cameron has been a busy man. Its been 5 years since Avatar, and we have been hearing ever since that there will be mulitple sequels. Well Cameron has finished the scripts to 3 sequels. Production on Avatar 2 it seems will begin very shortly.

Fox's plan is to release a film at Christmas starting in 2016 for 3 years.

Avatar 2 is set for release Christmas 2016.

( Then Cameron gets back the rights to Terminator - Jan 1st 2018!)

I honestly don't want Cameron to return to Terminator. He's fuck it up more than he'd help it if his recent films are any indication.

Anyway, yay, more critically acclaimed mediocrity incoming.

The only films he's done for Cinema since T2 are True Lies, Titanic and Avatar... not exactly material to crucify him with. (FYI True Lies is one of my favourite films... 'Battery aziz!' 'Then get another one you moron!')

Considering Avatar started development in 1994 taking 15 years to make it to the cinema in 2009, 2016 is practically light speed for Avatar 2!

Anyway as long as Jakes dreams are the experiences of his corpse buried somewhere on Pandora I'll be happy. But somehow I don't think that's gonna happen...

Cameron is going to have Jake continue on as the "Human" element of the series, even though he is in a blue body. Said as much in the article.

My point is when he slept as a human he was alive as a smurf, and vice versa. I'd be morbidly fascinated if that link continued after his human body died...

I've already put money on #2 being a ripoff of Little Mermaid. What will the other two be?

    *sigh*

You know the sad thing about Avatar was that had it been made back when Cameron first wrote it, it could have been considered original but alas movies came out over time with those similar ideas so when he made Avatar finally it came off as a cliche wreck.

I greatly enjoyed the first one, so I would like to say that I'm excited for more. That said, I'm always wary when multiple sequels are planned out like this. I'm also not looking forward to the constant Avatar bashing that will be going on. Not just on the forums, but some of my friends will inevitably have a field day wih these movies.

It's not easy being the only person I know who, not only doesn't feel the need to verbaly bash the movie every time it's brought up, but actually likes it.

The second one is rumoured to take place on an ocean planet/moon. So, are 3 & 4 going to take place on other sorts of biospheres like high gravity or something? Because that's not an aspect you see a lot of in mainstream science fiction movies.

I'm sure for Avatar 2, Cameron will come out with some new breakthrough technology where the movie will be in 4-D and people will flock to it like flies on shit.

As long as M. Night Shamalan doesn't have anything to do with it this time... oh wait wrong Avatar.

Smurfy cats one then... Pass. First one looked nice but I felt it was WAY over hyped.

The irony here is that the human eye-to-human brain processing system is really only capable of so much before things start looking abnormal (read: like shit).

I don't mind more. First one entertained me enough visually, even if the story was only so-so.
Combine the two. Have M. Night direct blue cat people Smurvatar 2.

The twist could be that Jake's human body in the first film was an avatar being controlled by his dead twin brother's mind.

Which was being controlled by a Smurf.

    Everyone is an Avatar.
