/does her once in a blue moon log in So I've heard that none of the standard TFW guys were at the IDW Panel, and a few people have asked me (on Twitter, at least) to summarize some of what went down. Figured I'd drop it here too for anyone interested. Apologies if I'm Doing It Wrong. I did not take strong notes, so apologies to anyone expecting something nice and shiny like the live updates. -Denton's working on D&D now mostly. It appears to be based on 4.0-oh, wait, sorry, we care about robots. -Image of Ongoing cover. HOT ROD IN SPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACE (this was one of the bullet points on the slide) and Starscream (with a Matrix a la TFTM Galvatron bling!) on the cover choking the crap out of him. Going to Decepticons, lotta crap going down. -Images of Transformers: Sector Seven covers. Focuses on the Simmons family history. -Image of one of the Wreckers covers. I kind of didn't pay attention here, oops. -Drift 3 including Lockdown (Drift 03 Alex Cover by ~dyemooch on deviantART - not image shown, but shiny nonetheless) and to reveal 'secrets of the third faction'. -No more Spotlights planned until they fill a few holes in canon/tie things together -Schmidt mentioned that they're going to try to keep a more steady art style for ongoing -Also mentioned Punch/Counterpunch 4-issue miniseries - no date planned, no information on artist/writer given, just that they're working on it. -13 has "No comment"; however, Mike Costa mentioned he 'might' have an email with the subject between him and Simon Furman. Andy's note was "We haven't forgotten them, we haven't forgotten Simon" -Alex Irvine mentioned when I spoke with him post-panel that he was starting to work on another book, possibly WFC-verse.
Yup. No clue. I haven't been following Ongoing so I don't know if Don's changed his art style since the beginning, but it was mentioned that he's toning down the...whatever, as a result of fans not liking it.
Last point was the highlight for me. The WFC Prequel comic looked great, I'd love to see more using those designs.
Very nice. Loving the sound of Lockdown expanding into another continuity. It's true what was said at Botcon 2009, he's the guy now when it comes to needing a Decepticon aligned bounty hunter. Many thanks for the info love Artoni!
Lockdown? Oh hell yes. Also glad to hear of more P/CP is coming, and the possibility of another WFC book.
Well, the artwork linked to up there looks like it's based on his ROTF toy. And, aside from the bony limbs, the toy itself looks like a "Classics Lockdown," which is pretty much what I've been using it as to begin with.
I can see strong similarities with the ROTF toy, but IDW's one apparently has symmetrical shoulders and the car roof on his back rather than his chest, as well as a few changes to the top of his head. As far as I'm concerned for now, this warrants a new toy.
Hmm, I was waiting to see Axor and I actually prefer his remold over Lockdown. But if he's going up against Drift I must get one!
Lockdown?! Awesome! It'll be great to see more of my all-time favorite Decepticon; I'll pick up that comic just for that.
Thank you for this info. It is much appreciated. Been trying to find ANY information on the IDW panel at SDCC... seriously, did anyone even bother to go besides yourself? Thank heavens at least one person was there. Guess next year I'm gonna have to be there myself.
Yeah, and on top of that the toy is in Earth mode as apposed to the comic which most likely be in Cybertronian mode. Going to pick myself up one tomorrow But I like the news from IDW, not too much of anything new since BotCon.
I like how "making Lockdown G1 by putting him in Drift's comic" seems to be a more popular idea than "giving Drift a comic" itself
