Some countries only get a Transformers movie quite a while after the theatrical release around the world. (This writer’s home country; Sri Lanka got Revenge of the Fallen full month behind the worldwide release).
Here’s a news that will please Indian, Sri Lankan and Bangladeshi Transformers Movie Fans.
After a tip I received from one of my closest friends, both of us decided to investigate why our theater is advertising a 1st of July release date for Transformers: Dark of the Moon.
As it turns out, Popular Indian media corporation; Viacom18 has acquired license from Paramount Pictures International to release the movie to the people of above stated countries (India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh) around the same time as the rest of the world.
Transformers 3 is the first project to be carried out in this manner followed by J.J. Abrams’ Super 8 and later with Mission Impossible 4.
One of our local newspapers published Haresh Chawla, CEO of Viacom18 stating “Viacom18 Motion Pictures has built up a very strong presence in the movie business in a short span of time and this strategic alliance with a global major like Paramount Pictures will open up myriad possibilities that will help us further strengthen our presence in this space”.
What can we say to those who worked really hard to bring the movie to the countries as quickly as possible? Thank You, Thank You, Very Much!
(Update: While I was typing this article, a quick word from the Sri Lankan theater; Liberty Cinema explains that the Sri Lankan release has been pushed back to July 8. We waited for two years… one week is A-OK!)

This is seriously great news for people like me (Indian). I wish Hollywood movies releasing in India at the same time as they do in the US becomes more and more commonplace in the near future – be it big budgeted movies or relatively modestly priced ones !!!
Now can we please have the trailer for this movie with Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides in India ???

FINALLY! lol last time by the time the movie was released you could buy the blu ray hehe!..
Unfortunately this means our already shitty film industry is going to sink deeper…. but thats for another time

So Viacom, Paramount's parent corporation, had a presence in your area since 1996 and they're only just now taking advantage of that?
Hm.
Better late than never, I guess.

You guys have no idea what this news means to me. Just think for a moment having to wait a month or two more than others just to see the movie. Now it's all gone. We see it along with everyone else.

Another billion plus people should significantly help ticket sales.
