Sideswipe is awesome...i hope there making a toy and this will probably repainted into RedAlert who was previously annouced......now all we need now is Sunstreaker.

This seems unlikely, since Red Alert has been confirmed as fembot.

 

Ugh, too bad. I was hoping for AT LEAST a G1 styled head.

 

The head kinda bugs me, but overall I guess it's bearable.
I'll wait and see what the toon swipe looks like if they ever do him. Hopefully he'll be a better mesh of toon to movie.

 

He's cool, except that head. But it could just be the comic. The comics make them all look over-the-top. It kinda looks like he has a mask or something on.

 

Never would have guessed it was Sideswipe. Fist time I would not have known in Animated.

 

Well, it certainly looks to me like the final draft of the design will have a bit more detail (and some colour, obviously), but already it looks pretty clear that this character will represent our first official teaser of a TF2 movie bot design, and possibly the start of the RotF marketing push. I had a feeling something like this was coming the moment I noticed the story was called "Sideswiped" - it seemed too much of a coincidence that the new comic was choosing to showcase a character that had cropped up so often in RotF rumours - but the blatant similarity between this and the leaked head design of a few weeks ago seems to confirm it. Wonder what other movie teasers the comic is going to throw up? I'm excited...  

 

Not a fan of the art particularly. It bears only a vague similarity to the Animated style, has none of the shape/detail vocabulary that has been established in the series so far, and the only identifiable vehicle parts that are showing are the wheels.

It just doesn't look like it's a design that has come from the desk of Cartoon Network or Hasbro designers...

 

No that actually makes sense to me... those proportions could probably work with a female character as well as a male. I wouldn't be surprised if they adapted this from the Red Alert design. Other than that, it seems a bit abstract.

To be honest I don't think it looks all that much like Movie 'Sideswipe'.

 

I don't like the head, guess I've been spoiled with the heads so far being somewhat loosely based on their most prominent appearance.

 

Yeah, at this point to me the thread title is a bit misleading, as comic-only characters don't really count for me.

 

I'm really digging Sideswipe's gloves, wheeled boots and near-lack of kibble. His head is an extremely odd design, though. Not unpleasant - just strange.

I can see where people are coming from when they compare him to his ROTF incarnation. Maybe the people down at Titan had access to movie material as a guide. Hopefully, Sideswipe will pop up on the cartoon and there'll be a toy of him somewhere down the road.

Ick. I really hope it's the artist's leftover concept art drawn during a 3-day bender. Sleek and stylish it ain't. Like Optimus said during the Rebirth: "What happened here?"

 

My question still hasn't been answered.
Are these supposed to take place in normal animated continuity.

When they were announced this awhile back I think they said it wasn't going to be, but I'm not sure.

 

I'm not really feeling this design too much, maybe it'll grow on me.
