Cheap-ass fit & finish. This is the very reason why I grabbed a United Jazz to replace my RTS one. Why the hell didn't Hasbro paint the rear of RTS Jazz? Did they run-out of paint or something? Cheap-skate bastards... *shakes head*
They used the paint budget on the stripes and door numbers, which were the important part of the paintjob. Each size class has a set budget for paint operations. And buying a couple paint markers to touch up your RTS jazz would have cost you much less. shadow_panther, if you hate that term so much, why don't you go burn every copy of the Penny's catalog that spawned it and every copy of the Dreamwave comic that cemented it in canon? Xanthax, that statement is ridiculous. ***EDIT*** -TFW2005 Staff Sometimes plastic being unpainted gray is perfectly fine. For instance: The G1 Dinobots. For another, G1 Prime's trailer. Several old figures. Cybertron Brakedown. Galaxy Force Starscream. Cybertron Scattorshot both versions. Cybertron Optimus Prime's cannons. So by just saying you hate unpainted gray plastic, you're being stupid.
When I have to repair a toy I've just opened. My new Thundercracker has several problems due to overuse of the "seeker" molds. PCC drones lack of robot modes. NUMBERS. Too many Optimus Primes & Megatrons,... Too many cars... Autobots outnumbering Decepticons,... Not enough female transformers... Ultra Magnus almost always being a repaint of Optimus. Hasbro hasn't made a figure of Emirate Xarron.
- Pressure-fired missile launchers - I actually like missile launchers, but prefer the spring-loaded ones, since the pressure-fired type never seem to work that well. - Painted eyes on figures with light-piping - If the budget only allows so many paint applications per figure, why waste one painting over the light-piping? Or, conversely, why spend the money including light-piping if they're just going to paint over it? Either leave out the light-piping and paint the eyes or keep the light-piping and don't paint them. - The "tail becomes a whip/stick" thing that's common to a number of figures with beast alt-modes. - The trend towards 'open' hands on figures, particularly those with hand-held weapons. Not that I mind it from an aesthetic perspective, but I can see it being a long-term breakage risk, particularly the thumbs (ie - Animated Arcee). - Mismatched colours - Particularly seems to be a problem with car roofs, since those pieces are typically made of a different kind of plastic so the windshield/windows are clear, with red and yellow being the most common mismatches. Not sure how they pick colours exactly, but couldn't they see how the paint colour turns out on the translucent plastic and then use that to choose the colour for the matching plastic on the rest of the figure? - Huge, unwieldy accessories that look out of place in either mode. Mech Tech is probably the worst offender I've seen in a long time, but it's popped up in a few other figures as well. - Hair-trigger sound gimmicks. I don't mind electronic gimmicks too much, as they've gotten more compact and less intrusive over the years. But there are a few that fire off with little or no provocation whatsoever. Worst offenders I can think of off the top of my head being Energon Scorponok, Armada Overload and RotF Supreme Devastator.
1) that lame grey they use instead of silver 2) no weapon storage in alt mode 3) chipped paint 4) soft rubber 5) bad toy distribution 6) bad quality control, like when the limbs fall off everytime you touch the toy. thats the worst.
1) heads that don't at least turn 2) wrists stuck in the bicep curl (or flipped the other way like leader ss) 3) movie head sculpts
Well, with Highbrow the gimmick prevents the engines from fully rotating 90 degrees to become parallel with the arm and thus move the propellers out of the way. At least it's not as bad as Movie Incinerator, who honestly is mostly like G1 Battletrap's upper half because the entire backside of the V-22 Osprey remains untransformed due to that stupid internal gear system and he can't have hands for the same reason.
Loose joints and unpainted faces. Yeah I'm looking at you Dirge. And not enough paint detail on stuff.
The combiners being screwed over. Walmart exclusives. If there's another one of those I'm going to lose it.
haha. the only thing that reaaaaaaally annoys me is bits that don't tab in. or bits that are MEANT to tab in but get worn out too quickly. poor animated shockwave's hips always split
I have a rally hard time with bot modes that are either overly alien looking or have curvy/biological looking bodies and limbs. Namely Movieverse & Beastwars. I prefer my toy robots chunky.
1. I'll agree on soft, droopy, bendy parts. 2. No lightpiping 3. Tons of kibble 4. Rediculously hard transformation (-hem, Universe Galvatron?) 5. Robo-junk in alt. mode 6. When it's a combiner/smaller alt-mode, but it has a cheap, cheesy, and un-articulated robot mode...aka G1 Menasor, I thinks.
Oh, I frogot about that mold. That makes two TF's from recent years who aren't restricted by the propeller spinning gimmick. There's still far more that have such a gimmick that are restricted severely, though, so your mileage may vary. It's not like the combiners were ever good to begin with. Like it or not, Energon Superion still has more articulation than his G1 counterpart, and Silverbolt isn't horrendously taller than his teammates. Then how the heck else are we going to get most of our Masterpiece releases in America for an eventual bargain price?! Say what you will, but I made like a bandit when WM dropped the price for Skywarp under $20.
