Oh, I wonder if it'll just be him or if they'll get as much of the original crew back together as possible?

Are they making yet another time travel movie? Or did Paramount decide to make another 24th century Movie for the cast and crew of DS9/VOY/TNG?

One of the shows they are talking about doing is an animated series. Wouldn't surprise me if we ended up with Next Gen the animated series. They are planning 5 trek shows for their web platform.

    A series based on Khan
    Discovery season 2
    Starfleet Academy.
    An Animated series
And one other they aren't giving details on.

Presumably he is being courted for one of these series.

I’d be surprised if he’d be up for regular series work, at this point. And usually you don’t want to build a series around a 77 year old man.

Hopefully it’s a movie. And hopefully no time travel.

Long as it's not a Generations story for the next movie that gives the character a final "sent off," then this sounds great.

Still wish we had gotten two more movies before Brent Spiner got too old to be Data.

But if they do Next Gen animated, he won't be.

Yeah, you could bring everyone back as they'd only have to do voice work. The more I think about it the more an Animated Next Gen makes sense. Hell, if it's good I'd watch it.

I'm not really in favour of standard TNG in animated form as that had obviously ran its course in season 7 and again in movie format at Insurrection, but i'd be totally up for it being post-Nemesis with a shaken up crew and Riker flying around in his own ship as well. Gawd knows it'd be good for the characters to have a better send of then that pile of drizzled shit.

If it's a live action job, i'd probably expect him to be the boss in that Starfleet Academy show that keeps getting talked about.

Honestly I can't say I really would give two shits about a Riker centered show. Or anyone else on TNG other than Data or Picard. So maybe it's best they just let it go.

It will be this one. Remember when Q had him reliving his Starfleet days? We all saw Patrick Stewart but people there saw a kid. Well a whole series based on that episode. Fills in all the gaps between the scenes. In an exciting episode 3, he goes and talks to the groundskeeper guy.

I'm 100% against this. There's absolutely no possible way they won't fuck it up. It'll end up being "Captain Picard... as written by the man-bun wearing hippie who rebooted Thundercats." I have no faith in anyone currently in Hollywood. Don't let them talk you into it Patrick! Resistance is NOT futile.

    Oh God, Nooooooo!

I could see an Admiral Picard series where he orders a new crew to do interesting things. It wouldn't require much out of Patrick Stewart.

If you loved Discovery, then by all means, look forward to them bringing Picard back.

But if you are part of the majority of Trekkies who hated Discovery, why would you want the people currently determining the tone and future of the franchise to get their mitts on a character you care about?

Hell, I was fine with Discovery, but even I don't want Picard getting subverted by the current writers and producers. No thank you. You think it's like Picard is like a real person, and if he shows up again, he will automatically just be his normal, true self. It doesn't work like that. They can F him up worse and in ways you can't even yet imagine as easily as you snapping your fingers.

Yes they can fuck it up. But, they also may end up making a masterpiece. Who knows? I'll give it a chance.
