Here is a project I've been wanting to do since I got my first 1/48 scale valk. But bieng the kinda tightwad I am I could never really give into repainting a $200 toy. But when Yamato brought out the new 1/60 v2 line and made the no paint version VF-1S I finally decided to start one.

I used testors gloss red enamel for the nose and chest painting. Testors flat black enamel for the black spot near the canopy. And red acrylic for the armor parts. Chest and nose are hand painted. The armor I used an air brush on.

I'm waiting to a bottle of Tamaya clear red acrylic to finish the eye visor. And am debating on whether to use a blue clear acrylic on the canopy to give it a more anime look.

    Looks cool, I love Valkyries.

One aside: the original G1 Jetfire is 1/55 scale correct? So this is smaller than G1.

yes, jetfire was 1/55 scale, so this guy is smaller but more detailed. But not by much.

I like the painted boosters. Much nicer than Jetfires plain red variety. Perhaps one day I'll do some detail painting on my figure. How articulate is this one?

the 1/60 v2 yamato valks are as articulated as a revoltech figure almost, I'd have to find a review on the valk to put on here. But I know that they can hit about any pose you need.

Congats. Wouldn't a 1/48 be a litle more "Masterpiece" size? Just put a VF-1S head on a Hikaru body. That's all Jetfire is anyways.

Size wise yes, but cost wise no I couldn't rationalize that much for a custom toy. The no paint 1s was a better idea in my opinion.
