Well...I just finished Armada Starscream. I ushered a new custom into this world...but with it...I say goodbye to my digital camera. It fell in battle, in the heat of a photoshoot with Starscream. Starscream didn't look too happy with getting his picture taken...I should have taken the point. Sorry no alternate mode pics now...no working digital camera...but here is robot mode. Starscream here is constructed from parts from Alternators Battle Ravage, Swerve, and Binaltech Tracks (yellow) All that really remains is a license plate...and a Starsaber add-on that I am working on. And the last one for now... If you are curious as to how the head is held on...and hopefully this will help some people out there....I used a zip tie. Take a small zip tie...those annoying plastic things that you can tighten in one direction. Tighten it around the ball joint of the head your working with. Snip the excess zip tie off. Enclose the substitute head around the zip tie...the zip tie should now act as a socket for the ball joint. Thats how I got the head for Armada Starscream to work. It won't work for everything...but its cheap and effective...and allows a full range of movement.
That zip tie thing is very inventive. I have TONS of those stupid things. And that is one very nice looking custom. I'd love to see car mode pics. I can see you changed some colors on it. Also one recommendation. I can very vaguely see the Autobot logo on the chest where you rubbed it off. If you have a spare Decepticon sticker about, put on on there. Or contact Repolables. I can't remember who it was at OTFCC 2004 but they gave me a sheet of metallic Autobot logos in various sizes.
That thing is awesome! Now you need to use the remaining pieces of the other two 'vettes to make Skywarp and T-cracker. Love the colors, can't wait to see the alt-mode.
Hahaha...I know what you mean about the chest. Actually I think what you might be seeing is the residue left over from a Decepticon symbol I had on the chest (from ReproLabels) The more I looked at it, the more it didn't scream...well...Armada Screamer. I'm still thinking about adding the logo...but for now, I kinda dig the plain chest look...its different from other Corvette Alternators. I'll post pics of the alternate mode when I get my other digital camera charged up... Thanks man!
That is one awesome custom. Man, two Alternators, a Binaltech, and an Armada Screamer all met their end for this new 'bot? Good thing it turned out so good. It really is a great paint job. And I'd leave the faction sticker off the chest. Looks great without it.
Well, I wouldn't say they met their end...the two Alternators were already at the end of their road...because I had scavenged them for parts before. The Binaltech...well...lets just say I'm either gonna sell the leftovers...or make another custom. Everything becomes kitbash fodder! Thanks everyone!
Thanks again everyone for the comments... Well...I did want to post how I bashed the head of Armada Starscream in order to make it fit. It seems cheap, and I'm sure there are better ways of doing this... But hopefully this little guide will show you how to make a socket for a ball joint on the cheap. It''ll probably only work on a few molds though...I guess it depends on the head. Oh yes...and I promised some quick shots of alternate mode correct. Its not much...but it'll have to do for now. I just have to finish the license plate on the back. I was contemplating some black stripes up the center of the vehicle mode...but I wasn't sure If I'd like it...
Pretty cool! man! everything looks great. Car mode looks pretty nice and like something we could see on the road... btw, if you plan to sell pieces, im very interested in Swerve head and yellow tracks chest plate (in case you still have em )
Awesome, I don't post in here often, but I just had to say how amazing that is. I love it's bot mode, car mode and the character. Just simply kick ass work.
Another nice custom again, Squall! I think I have to say this is your best yet. I have to say that the alt mode reminds me of Packard Walsh's 'Vette from "the Wraith." (What can I say, I love the 80s ) A good situation you're in with the faction symbol is that it'll look good either way. But then again, ol' Screamer never was the Decepticon mascot anyways . . . Again, nice work dude!
Very nice, always thought the Tracks mold would work best for the seekers if god-forbid Hastak ever made Alt. Seekers. A+++ in books man!
Looks great! Have you thought about adding con logos behind the rear wheels? They're end up being upside down in one mode or the other, but in bot mode it'd add the logos that he has on his wings.
