Fairly condescending, like most reviews of kids movies back in the day.

If I was a parent or adult that hadn't known anything about transformers I'd probably feel the same way.

I was actually watching a DVD of the movie I got at the weekend (The Reconstructed one). I had the video before, but the offending article was edited out of it. I'd completely forgotten about that and my kids were watching it too.
All day after that it was "Daddy, Spike said shit!!!"

Scold them? what do you think this is, 1986???
Nah, you're better off just ignoring that, otherwise you open up a whole can of worms, whit arguements like "well, Daddy, he said shit so its ok for me to say shit because somebody on the cartoon said shit so if he can say shit why can't I say shit?" (he knows I won't let him say it but he'll sneak as many curse words in as he can manage, pesky kid.)

Wow, that article actually pissed me off! LOL. What an arrogant condescending ignorant review. I wonder what the author would think of all the popular cartoon movies now!

Yeah, it's all pretty spot on. I know that if I had to review the Pokemon movie (or whatever the shit is popular these days) I'd think it sucked too.

I thought that Hot Rod quote was funny too. Too bad the author never imagined that "adults" would still be discussing the movie 20 years later!

I like that no major plot points were spoiled in the review. But more could have been made in this review of the pop culture references Eric Idle did as Wreck-Gar. Adults watching drivel like Aladdin or Shrek eat that crap up.

Yeah, it was fair, perhaps even disappointingly so. I was hoping for more critical insight.

The review is fair, but I mean a critic going to a kids movie is goign to be slanted just form the sheer fact that he is not reviewing an"adult" movie no not porn.

The thing that makes me pissed though is when people say its a shame this was Welles last film sigh.

He sure was not too upset about the quality of the film when he got his fat Transformers check for talking for money.

I find it horrible that people judge the movie just because Orson was not happy about being a planet.

If he did not wnat the money he would not have done it, period.

And it seems the critic is judging the movie for using famous people as voices, when every movie now does the same thing to grab money just like they did then.

Thats more then generous from a critic, I would have thougth that somebody who probably reviewed films for a living would be a bit more critical about 90 derivitive minuites of toy adverts pretending to be a movie.

I think it was fair to some extent. The comments about the animation and music are true and the author makes a very good point about the film assuming the audience has been watching the cartoon or has at least some TF background knowledge. However, there wasn't much commentary about the actual plot. This is good because it avoids spoilers, but the author spent so much time focusing on the reactions of the audience and the need for background exposure that there was little commentary on the actual story. The writer could stand to focus a little more on the actual movie they are/were watching and spend less time commenting on extraneous elements.
