Ok then, ive heard several complaints about these two. One that shockblast wasnt enough like shockwave and that he was too crazy, and then ive heard that CYBertron Soundwave is a let down because of how the writers portrayed him. Then the toy for shockblast was unliked because his arm cannon couldnt bend and his back hinge was too loose, then i Cybertron soundwave isnt liked because of his legs and is tricky getting into bomber mode. so here it is. If you could get rid of one of these guys from the show, toy or both which one would you hold on too and which would be molten slag? also if they were in the same show, which do you think would win in a brawl?

I wouldn't get rid of any of them. They're both great toys and Shockblast was awesome in the show. So what if they aren't like the originals? They aren't the same character. Soundwave wasn't all emcee like in Galaxy Force and Shockblast (Laserwave) was a super badass in Superlink.

Oh and Shockblast would woop Soundwave in a fight.

I wasnt gonna post the answer to my own question till i heard a few responses but im just too impatient. I love both toys, maybe i got two of em without all the problems, cuz i can now get soundwave into jet mode without issues and Shockblast doesnt seem to have much of a waist problem on the one i have. I would however have loved it if they were in the same show together. I would have put them both in galaxy force and taken away shockblast's sound feature so that his arm could bend. I think Soundwave could take shockblast any day, he is far more patient and can fly / warp. He also has lazerbeak to help him out and blind shockblast. that's my two sense anyway

They can't even manage continuity from one series to the next. Nevermind portraying them in a way simllar to characters from 20 years back.

That said,.... the voice they gave Soundwave is extremely tacky. So if i had to make the choice, Soundwave gets the chop.

Just on toys, since I haven't seen Soundwave in Cyb yet, I like Shockblast better. Soundwave's alt more doesn't hold that well and the arm kibble restrict movement too much in bot mode. Shocky may have balance issues when posing but he's solid.

Oh, and Shocky would beat living crap out of Soundwave in a fight.

Personally I don't see why they have to have the same charicterisations as the G1 versions. Its not like Shockwave had a perticualrly consistent personallity in G1, and Soundwaves personally in the media pretty much consisted of having a monotone voice.

The Toys I never got a chance to get Energon Shockblast at a price I was comfortable with, but GF Soundwave is awesome: and his jet mode is a bit fiddly to get but in no way as hard as some people make out (but then I still don't see the problem many people seem to have had with RID Sideburn, again: fiddly but not at all hard)

Personaly I like both charecters and toy alot and would not wish on their demise.

Shockblast looked awsome, the arm is cool because it is like G1 shockwave became impulsive and instead of going with the modest hand lazer he rendered his whole arm in to an insane instrument of destruction. The charecter of Shockblast was brilliant, he shined in that series because he actualy had a personality unlike the rest of the cast. He may not be a direct homage in charecter, but he looks just as good.

Whilst watching G1 everytime I see Soundwave I see opertunity. He is the sole communications expert of the Decepticons, he alone held so much sway as he had the power to make or break Megatrons ambitions due to his skill. If it were not for G1 Soundwaves unquestionable loyalty Megatron probably wouldn't have claimed Cybertron at all. With Cyb Soundwave you have got all the qualities of G1 the only difference in looksis, A cool alt mode! As for charecter, as I previously said, this Soundwave operates his own agenda. If G1 SW thaught like Cyb Soundwave, then soundwave would have ruled.

Overall, if i had to pick, i would go fpr soundwave to stay, an shockblast to go, simply because well, soudwave is soundwave, he might be, after prime, the ost iconiv reansformer. As for who would take who, i would sat soundwave, simply because of how devious he was, especiaky in the fight against the vangard team. his done would also be a useful decoy

I like them both. I never had a problem with their current portrayals VS the originals. They're just new guys with the original names. Shockblast I feel was one of the best things to come out of his series plot wise, he was done extremely well and proved to be a genuine threat.
Soundwave is a fun toy, liked him enough to plump for Soundblaster too. I dislike how he was portrayed, or rather, not portrayed, on the show. Such massive potential, and he was criminally underused. I'd have preferred it if he'd somehow appeared again at the end and been a surprise final fight instead of simply being in the shadows and never really coming to the fore.

I allways thought it would have been cool if energon or cybertron were longer than one season so they could give more time to these characters.

Indeed, I feel that is the problem with the shows these days. Some plots drag (Energon could have happily ended at 40 episodes or so, ditch the last arc, end it with Unicron's destruction, and add a little more in beforehand exploring and finishing off the rest of the cast)

On the other hand, Galaxy Force could easily have done with being longer. Too many big events seemed to get cramped, VS the one drawn out event, the Speedia race. Things like Planet X and Soundwave should have had more time, and the whole final run in the Grand Black Hole would have been far more impressive as a double episode.

I haven't watched the TV shows, but as far as toys go, it's a tough call. I like them both well enough but they both have major flaws...there are plenty of other toys I'd cling to in a heartbeat before saving these guys.
