What molds lend themselves to being repurposed as which micro masters? So far I only have movie Gears into Off Road Patrol Highjump (wip) and, of course, movie Mudflap into Erector (easy and done as far as I am concerned).
I approve of this thread, and I'm casually keeping an eye out for potential Micro upgrades myself. Well, Oil Pan is already Skystalker in my book and I've already made Blaze Master from Cybertron Evac. I'm thinking about doing a minor repaint on Rollbar to make him into Overload (sure, he's not a car transporter, but he does have the primus apotheosis thing going on). I'm also repainting Cybertron Skywarp as Skyhopper, though of course Storm Cloud and Eagle Eye would also work from the mould. I could kinda see Dirge/Jetblade working as Flattop. I've seen mention of using Rumble as Half-Track, and I reckon Scattorshot would make a good Meltdown too. The Longarm mould might work 'bashed into Mudslinger and/or Greasepit (check out my Gears thread in the main Radicons board for how you can turn it into a straight pickup). Mirage to Barricade, perhaps? Darkmount/Skullgrin to Big Shot. Breacher or CDF Hot Shot could both work for Dropshot. Tomahawk as Tracer. Energon Strongarm (or redeco thereof) as Growl - though if you're fabulously wealthy, there's Warcry coming for him too, and Flameblast for Fireshot). Since renaming Oil Pan, I've been wondering what to call Skystalker, and I might go with Vanquish. The Scout class Dead End could make a good Detour. PCC Steamhammer to Neutro? I could probably rattle off a ton more, but there's a few to be going on with.
Starscream from the new movie, the Cyberverse one would work for Hardtop and his carrier Starscream_Station Starscream_Station I'd love to see someone tackle Roughstuff, ca never decide on a mold or at what scale, thought for a while that legends Ani Prime would fit the bill, but there's too much choice as it is.
It's funny that you mention Dark Mount/Skullgrin -> Big Shot. I purchased a Skullgrin and paint to do just that bash today. Good call on the Tomahawk -> Tracer. I can't believe I didn't see that sooner. I guess I'll be picking another one of him up soon. Thanks for all of the ideas! Keep them coming. I'd love to do the rest of the Battle Patrol. Any ideas on Sun Runner? What about Eagle Eye and Sky High from the Air Patrol? I like Rumble as Sidetrack (if I can ever get a Rumble, that is). I can see Breacher for Dropshot pretty easily though I would prefer to use CDF Hotshot due to scale. Movie Blaze Master is already Blaze Master as far as I am concerned. While a little too movie aesthetic, it'll do.
Ecch. I don't like that movie Blaze Master at all; I found Evac was basically there already, and I just needed to apply some navy to his head and chest, and some yellow to his shoulders, to make the resemblance work. I actually mentioned Eagle Eye already, as a possible Cyb. Thundercracker/Skywarp repaint (I'm doing Skyhopper, but they're similar kinds of plane). Rumble could indeed work for Sidetrack as well as Half-Track; don't why that didn't occur to me. And I like the Starscream Station, though I think a different figure would be in order to make Flattop. On the Cyberverse theme, the new Powerglide might make a good base for Sunrunner. Something like PCC Darkstream might make a good base for Sky High; they're different kinds of jet, but it shouldn't be too hard to mod him into something suitable. How easy do you think it'd be to turn Landmine/Armorhide into a Baja-style buggy? He could make a half-decent Roller Force. Oh, and Deluxe Brawl could well work as Bombshock almost unaltered.
Duh, you did mention Eagle Eye. I can have a dangerously short memory sometimes. I love the plane but hate the arm on Cyb. Thunder cracker. What do you think about the Breakaway mold for one of them, Eagle Eye perhaps, given the cockpit chest? Armor hide could easily be used for Roller Force; that is a brilliant idea I'll be sure to use.
I've never been too sure about the Breakaway mould; it always looked weird to me, and I never got one. If you like it, though, then why not? But the arm on TC is easy enough to fix, one way or another. For my Skyhopper, I kept the launcher in place (because, y'know... BOOM), but added half a forearm to the top (cast from Cyb. Hardtop). Trim out some space on his back to accommodate it in jet mode and he's golden.
Good call. Could work even better if you find a way to have him transform without flipping the cab forward for the chest. Not sure about the Tomahawk head, mind, but I also can't think of a better one offhand. Of course, if that works well, you'll have to do a second one for Ironworks.
I've had an idea for a scout-sized Military Patrol: Bombshock - PCC Heaytread Tracer - Energon heli limb Growl - FP Warcry Dropshot - Breacker
