Yeah, those hands are kinda getting in the way but I can just pretend them to be some sort of metal extensions lol.

Got Jetfire over the weekend. Quite an awesome figure. The 'bot mode is ridiculously detailed and quite accurate, and while the undercarriage kibble is obvious, at least it maintains a thin profile, so it's not particularly bothersome to me. Yeah, SR-71 mode is ridiculously huge, it's beautiful. Didn't have too many troubles with the transformation. Once I figured it out, the "JTFR" panels don't cause me any problems. Just had to learn their range of motion. Not too fond of the way his shoulders seem to pinch the "beard" when they come together to form the fuselage, though. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, I'll have to look it over better. Haven't really played with him enough yet.

Couldn't for the life of me figure out the robot belt placement as mentioned previously. Tensioning the belts doesn't seem to do anything, and more often than not, trying to wedge the buckles against the torso caused the torso to separate. Oh well, I actually like the looks of them draping over the back plate (the one that becomes the super rifle). It adds to his rickety look, and adds more visual interest to his panel cape.

Yikes, that first step to the combination is tricky. No kidding the tolerances of that connection is to the line. Took a bit of finesse and quite a bit of force to pull Jetfire's chest down onto Prime's back. But once that step was cleared, it was smooth sailing. The alternate transformation using Jetfire's feet as the combined feet pulls the aesthetic together a lot better than the official way, for sure. I'm amazed how tight Jetfire's toe hinges are, in that they're actually capable of holding position despite the combined figure's massive weight. The fact that this leaves the jet engines completely unobstructed as the figure's heels is a very nice touch.

I agree, though. What really makes the combination gimmick work is that there's so many little moving parts between the toys that you can adjust things to your own aesthetic tastes. As a small warning, putting the rear fenders over the hips puts a small stress mark on the wheel wells if you try to angle them as high as possible, but it doesn't look like there's enough stress there to actually warp or break the parts. But if it bugs you, you might think about shaving down some parts for more clearance. But anyways. I personally like to transform Prime in a way that it looks like he has more bulk, approximating his silhouette in the movie as best as possible. I'll do this by rotating his rear fenders up over his hips, pulling out the thigh-mounted wheels, and rotating the front fenders back up unto vehicle position, which fairly effectively makes his legs look more beefy. For his torso and arms, I fold the silver tabs down towards his head, and swing his sun visor pieces back to form more of a collar, and thicker looking shoulders. I swing the canisters on his shoulder panels back down, which provides the clearance to lower the cockpit/fuselage pieces much more closely to the arms, giving a more unified look to the combination, rather than having the armor "float" some distance from his body. The end result is pretty damned badass. Not entirely movie accurate, but close enough for something that doesn't parts-form.

Altogether, though, well worth the purchase for me. A very unique figure either way you spin it, not particularly hindered by the combination gimmick, but even more worthwhile because of it.

Got mine today. Awesome figure, combined him with prime right away. My only complaint is that I wish he was bigger. Like Energon Omega Supreme size, so that he'd be more in scale with prime and the others, and for more detail, especially in the combined mode in terms of feet.

Okay, I got mine today, and I've tried to combine him with Prime for close to three hours now. Jetfire's chest is will not attach to Prime, and I've no idea where those gray pieces clip to Prime's shoulders. The instructions are even more worthless than first movie Leader Megatron.

I just can't do this. Is there a trick to gettinmg Jetfire's chest to Prime's back? Jetfire's Mech-Alive lever is in the way.

The hinge where Prime's sleeper section (the rear of the cab, in vehicle mode) folds back to form his back pack... that's where Jetfire's chest clips are to go.

If you notice, there's a divot on Jetfire's clamps that's shaped just like the roundness of the hinge on Prime's backpack.

You need to get those lined up first, then push down, and you'll see the Mech Alive lever move ever so slightly out of the way to allow the combination to be completed. Strap the belt around Prime, put his feet on Jetty's, and you're good to go.

You'll have to give it 2-3 times before you can really get it figured out. Once you get a feel for it, you'll have no problem repeating the process at will.

Since i doubt i will transform him much at all, i am planning on mounting him on my wall instead of just sitting him on a shelf. yeah, his alt mode takes up a lot of real estate, but i ain't complaining.
so later today, going to a local hobby shop and talk to the owner for ideas on how to safely secure Jetfire to my wall. when i get him up, i'll post a pic.

    still loving this figure.

Yup I whole-heartedly agree with the above statements. it might take awhile before everything falls into place, just be patient with it.

I've combined mine countless of times alrdy.

Edit: Boy, that took a long time... but I finally got him combined at the top. I was worried I was going to break something, since Jetfire's Mech-Alive lever locks in place seemingly when he is in mid-transform.

He kinda leans forward a bit, due to the combined legs... now I just have to fiddle with his kibble for how I want to display him... assuming I can make enough space for him.

The cryptic ritual of hiding Jetfire's belt in jet mode continues to elude me, though.

As much as I want him, I fear news of a Premium version as soon as I pick this up. How long did we wait till we got news of the premium figures in the old line?

I just picked him up, and honestly I was surprised how easy he is to transform back and forth. Maybe I'm just a little biased towards jetfire but I find him to be a rather fun toy as well as a display piece. I feel stupid for not picking up prime yet though.

Don't be, it wasn't until I got Jetfire that I bought Prime afterwards.

I just couldn't deny myself the sweet combo mode! And yes, Prime is a BA figure!

You can also have the hands sort of angle downwards so the hands grab the side mirrors and looks more less like a hand. That's how I do mines.
