I'm going to save opening the other 2 for another day, but I played with the first one a bit.

Oh wow - DA-100 went temporarily out of stock on A.jp.
Sure, they'll get more, I'm sure, but holy carp, there's been a decent run on it over the last few days to get to this point.

Yea. My dealer of choice also sold out Monday and got more in today thankfully. Ordered 2/3 of them.

I love that they made a stop motion promo video, it’s a nice homage to the old Diaclone commercials.

I think I’ll watch it a few more times now. :D

They have a non-domestic maximum quantity. They probably still have some available to domestic Japanese addresses. As folks cancel or TT allots them more, they may reopen briefly. I've seen some of the small sets reach that limit in a few hours.

You know I was thinking that when I read it, but thought maybe it was the Mandela Effect.

So I'm interested to know if any Australians have put their pre-order in for DA-100 yet?

I usually buy through nin-nin-game.com but they haven't put it on their store yet :(

I bought DA-95 through cdjapan.co.jp and that seemed to work out fairly well (got stung for additional shipping on release, but was expecting that). Total was roughly AU$700.

The US sites (bigbadtoystore, tfsource, etc.) are hilariously overpriced - would end up being over AU$900, which is a joke. I'm honestly unsure how they get anyone to buy something like this through them when even people in the US can buy one for US$360 from japan instead of US$500. (Shipping can't be over US$140, surely?)

CDJapan will end up being roughly AU$700 after additional shipping, I expect.

(amazon.co.jp is not favourable to Australia, and currently don't seem to even be selling DA-100 for some reason, maybe they ran out of pre-orders?)
(hobby-genki.com are also selling it for a similar price to cdjapan)

They're named after caterpillars, as in the butterfly larval stadium, because caterpillars have a certain way of walking (leg movement, not the body contractions) that resemble how tank treads move.

It's also a pun on "ornithopter".

My local seller just put DA-100 up for PO for 450 USD shipped. That turns out to be cheaper than what I paid for DA-95. 10 bucks is still 10 bucks :)

Shipping can be US$140 indeed, often times more...

Amazon Japan already sold out. That's why the listing is gone.

Same here. I am constantly checking Nin nin game and see if i could place an order with them.

So tempting to order from CDJapan instead of waiting for nin nin game.

I am in a FOMO stage. What do people think ordering from CDJapan? If you have a choice between Nin nin game or CDJapan, who would you recommend?

Sorry for asking silly question as i have never ordered from CDJapan but i am fear of missing out if Nin nin game not available to preorder.

Obscure question what was that "Trailer Music" they used for the DA-100 presentation video, it's one i've heard repeatedly.. but I can never recall which one is which they all start to blend together after being so over used on Videogame trailers and the like.

They were historically called 'Catapillar Tracks' due to the imprint they leave in the ground looking like a multi-legged imprints a catapilar or millipede would make. If Catapillar got names before or after I don't know, that would depend on how long they'd existed, but then tracked vehicles are over a century old & so either is quite possible. They even had Traction Engines adapted with tread hauling gun carriages in world war 1.

Oh and boy oh boy would a steam punk armoured traction engine make one hell of a cool looking toy.

Speaking of treads though, I am very pleased that the DA-100 "Cloud Arc" mini-shuttle has rolling castors on the underside, after they missed them off on the tread vasaulter.
    -----------

I got to wondering now we have this big guy closer to completion, won't we need an insanely huge Warauder for he/it to fight too ?

I did wonder though if the Grand Cross had an on board AI assistant to help with it's walking stability, weapon deployment, and transfrormation sequence etc and such would it be female or male in voice or some thing neutral and then one has to wonder if it has a female AI and turns into in some sense "a Boat" should Grand Cross be consider Gender Neutral or a she ?

One can argue Male for C3PO reasons of body shape.
One can argue female due to vehicles often being a "she"
I need to check does it mention any gendered language in association with the AI, I know AI's feature in Diaclone fiction but to be honest I forget if they were make, female or neutral in personality type as a rule.
Heck the USS Enterprise D sometimes had a male computer interface voice but the ship usually had a Female interface as is considered a She.
But is IDW's Transforming Enterprise considered Male ?

I think I've needlessly confused myself now, but I would like to know if the AI interface on Diaclone vehicles is male or female though.
