Yeah, you remember it a certain way, I remember it a slightly different way.
I think both roads take us to the same place. :)

I remember seeing Broadside in the US Marvel Transformers profile book (the name of the title escapes me) and then waiting for him to show up in the comic proper and the cartoon.

Then when he did show up in the cartoon they used two separate models.
I didn't even realize the giant in the background with the faceplate was Broadside because they mostly used the character model with the goofy head.
Where did that head even come from?
The toy didn't have that weird shaped head.

Let's be real. He isn't less iconic than Deathsaurus. A character doesn't have to be an icon to sell at the $180-200 price point necessarily

Yeah I meant Marvel UK srry. The point I was trying to get across was that Marvel UK (along with any other media related to the Marvel continuity) was the only time Broadside was primarily depicted as a regular sized bot. His two other most noteworthy appearances the cartoon & IDW depict him as being a very large bot.

The cartoon was very inconsistent especially in season 3 yes, like they couldn't even agree on what Broadside was supposed to look like lol

But the one thing they did seem to agree on was that Broadside should be huge.

I will say some continuities are wishy washy on how big he should be such as Dreamwave.

But I think most agree that if you have an aircraft carrier for an alt mode you should be a massive bot.

He's never been as big as a titan, but I'd say he definitely fits the mark for a commander.

    No need to apologize.
I was just trying to see if there was something about Broadside of which I was unaware.

Looking at his entry on TFwiki I realize Broadside's size is all over the place in various media.

Uhhh, I beg to differ on the "Broadside isn't less iconic than Deathsaurus" statement. Very much so.

It might be said that Deathsaurus is more obscure than Broadside (I'd still differ, but we can stipulate that), but for those who know of both, FAR more care about Deathsaurus than Broadside, who's almost a non-entity.

Feel free. But he's not. Especially outside of Japan where almost nobody had ever heard of him. He's selling because they made a cool looking bot, not because people have a long deep history with Deathsauras. And the same would/could be true with Broadside.

A lot more people have heard of Deathsauras than you seem to think. I don't even need to point to the HasLab as evidence. He's appeared more in AMERICAN media than Broadside has. Broadside is THAT insignificant.

That's... something I hadn't considered. You're quite right that if the Victory Saber had been based on the IDW version, out of sheer spite I wouldn't have been able to bring myself to back it even if the price had been the same, and similarly I wouldn't have backed Deathsaurus had he been based on either IDW versions.

In terms of a specific image, I do believe this is where that metallic skull look (which, again, I always found kind of stupid) really hurt it because that's not really the image people generally have of Ghost Rider. When I first saw the pics on the Haslab, I actually wondered if those flames coming out of the side of his mouth were supposed to be tusks.

Has there been a comic accurate Ghost Driver in cartoons or anything? In Agents of Shield, I recall that his design called for the skull to have various cracks to evoke the accident that killed Robbie, but I don't remember hearing about him making appearances on stuff like Marvel's Spider-Man or Avengers Assemble or anything, compared to those memorable appearances the Danny Ketch Ghost Rider had on stuff like the Fantastic Four and Hulk cartoons.

I am baffled by their choices on what’s shiny and what’s not.

The space chicken head isn’t shiny?

I don't know if the statement 'DS has been in more American media' is true or not, but all appearances are not equal. They were both in comics, but Broadside was in the Marvel US and UK comics, while DS was in the IDW comics (Broadside was in those too). Comic reading was way more prolific in the 80s than it is now, so more people read those comics than read the IDW stuff. Broadside was in the G1 toyline. Broadside was in the G1 cartoon, which I don't need to tell you how much more prolific that was than anything since. It's totally understandable to some people here that are way way more into Transformers, that DS would be iconic to them, but outside of the super diehards, he's nothing close to that term. Hell, you have people in this very thread, dedicated to DS who don't know who he is! lol. And that's ok, he's still awesome, and they made a great figure out of him that got funded. And they can do the same with other non-iconic characters like Broadside, IMO.

My favorite part of Deathsaurus is his Alt. Mode holding Living-Metal-Destroying Cannon.
