Every time I look at the packaging, I feel like I should put on 3-D glasses.

 

I know, we know, that Legacy is a continuation of WFC trilogy that brings in more avenues of characters, thus the legacy is expanded.

but to a layman, i cant help but imagine someone going \"Ah yes, te perfecr encapsulation of the transformers brand over the decades. Bug boy and dragstrip\"

 

I had the same thought, but because the angles on the side and top make it hard to tell what the shape of the box is.

 

Fingers crossed that these become available sooner instead of later.

 

I am thinking we will probably get them sometime in March or April if we are already getting official in-packaging shots like this. The July release date was probably in case some unexpected shipping delays that have been happening the last 6 months.

 

Rhe packaging looks alright. A bit gaudy with all the purple, but it's a nice change of pace after WFC.

I'm glad I'll still be able to see most of the figure under the store lights, especially after Kingdom.

 

Can’t wait to get my preorderd Kickback and Dragstrip. Not a fan of those energon weapons on Kickback, they’re going straight in the parts bin. Then again I’m usually not a fan of gimmicks, but it doesn’t ruin the figure at all anyway.

Honestly they all look great to me. Skids I’m not getting because he’s not really a character I like and we have to make choices, but he’s beautiful. I’m liking Arcee more and more as a design as well. I don’t care the slightest for Prime and it’s characters and I get why the fans don’t like the G1-ified look, but I don’t think it looks bad personally.

 

Someone mentioned clear plastic earlier... Plastic is plastic, depending on the chemistry, not the color, but WFC has some of the weakest and poorly (inconsistently?) molded ever. Poor bluestreak\'s windshield broke on the FIRST transformation out of the box after I got it for my son. I was the one transforming it, too, being careful and gentle. It was just very poorly, thinly attached.

 

I just want the new Motormaster. I'm good with my existing Menasor so unless the combined mode is just grade-a Awesome with an exclamation mark, MM is the only new Stunticon I really want.

 

I may have to get Arcee after all. But she can't stay the Prime character, in my mind. I think she'll become a young side-kick to G1 Arcee ala Hawkeye and may eventually take her name in honor of her mentor.

 

I didn't grow up or was even alive in the 80's but I also love the way it looks - just love the multiple colors and it just looks visually interesting.

Also funny how the artwork got progressively more on the packaging (which I'm not complaining that's the reason I sometimes keep the packaging is for the beautiful artwork).

 

I really hope we get a look at Menasor soon. I don't want to invest in the Stunticons without seeing what the Combined mode looks like. Otherwise, I'd definitely pick up Dragstrip on sight.

 

I think part of that might have been a goal of reducing plastic used for packaging... penultimate being tne "windowless" box for Laser Prime.

I know this is still mostly G1 getting done, but Kickback is an example of my personal issue with being "too G1."
The wings are less G1 by being vein-y... the swords (which I actually like) are almost anti-G1... but being G1 means the wings ONLY point up or jut out behind/ahead in his robot mode. A swivel hinge at the base of the angled section would have been really nice to have. It's something the TR Legends class figure did better.
Also, if he was gonna have swords, I wouldn't have minded if the wings themselves could have been detachable swords. They would have worked well in both roles with their G1 aesthetic like that, too. Maybe someone like JRC will come up with a fix I like.

 

I miss the days when the toys would come with those big fold out fliers that showed all the future releases for the year.

 

I'm sure we will soon since usually the Commander and Titan figure gets revealed in February at NYTF and if they don't go I think they will both get revealed soon-ish.

 

That's part of Hasbro's initiative to cut down on plastic packaging. They reduced the window size and used the extra cardboard to show off more artwork.

And yeah, I *love* having the alts on there with the bot. It really adds some personally to each one.

 

I miss robot points and the send-away catalog. Unfortunately, it'd be too easy to counterfeit the points in this day and age. However, with Hasbro Pulse, they could restart the system by putting a value next to each purchase and then offer an exclusive figure after you reach a certain level - very similar to LEGO's monthly exclusive offers if you spend $x on y themed sets.

seeing the new packaging I think it will not be long before the boxes are completely closed like the leaders

and that could make the exchange of toys easier or more problematic

 

* Kickback still looks awesome.
* Funny that Skid's artwork shows his outside clip-on wheels on the front of the vehicle. And that robot mode is SO hollowed out.
* Dragstrip is posed so that they don't show all the heinous multicolored outside clip-on wheels. Tell me again why we're paying over 20 bucks for multicolored outside clip-on wheels?
* Arcee is meh.

 

Im in the same boat. Got Dragstrip on order cause I know if I dont and Menasor looks amazing I wont be able to find him but on the flip side if it looks shite then I dont really want him its a catch 22
