I'm pretty sure the reason DC chose Alan Scott is because his Earth 2 counterpart in the New 52 is gay and it was a case of "well we already made one version gay, why not do it with the original?" and in all honesty it adds more character to him.

Either way it doesn't matter if they have a history of being gay/bi or not, they are now.

I’m thinking this is becoming traditional now. If I remember correctly, Bruce has been out of the Batman mantle in:
    • Knightfall - 1993
    • 52 - 2006
    • Final Crisis - 2009
    • DC You - 2015
I’m interested in seeing what happens forthcoming December’s solicitation, and what will happen to Gotham in the near future…

The letter's a nice touch, but I would have given bonus points if Jason was dressed more like Deathstroke. (almost wrote "Slade", goddamn you Standards and Practices lol)

Not exactly. The first thing that clued Tim in was that Robin used the same complicated acrobatic flips that he had seen Dick Grayson do at the circus, making a connection between the two identities that allowed him to pick up other clues. It's the same way that both Tom Kalmaku and General Stone figured out Hal Jordan was Green Lantern by how he punched someone. In both cases, the character did the same thing in civilian and costumed identity that gave the game away to people who were paying attention.

I know what you're saying and already made the comment about not being harmful, but isn't associating acrobatics and tight costumes with equaling homosexuality kind of a problematic stereotype?

But that's not what I'm doing. My comment wasn't about the acrobat's sexuality.

So Tim's parents took him to the circus as a child and he watched the Flying Graysons along with all the other circus acts that day. He later saw security footage of Batman and Robin where Robin performed an extremely rare acrobatic move that Tim recognized from the Graysons' act, which allowed him to connect Dick Grayson with Robin, and you characterize that as "a high degree of attention to athletic men in tight clothes"? Seriously?

I know you're not the type to go there and you're trying to make a progressive point, but let's say that type of logic would not be something I would be comfortable with saying out-loud around any LGBT friends even if I think I'm trying to help out.

Mark Waid Returning to DC in 2022

Waid appeared on the A Hero Story podcast and the discussion turned to how to best do a reveal in a story while making sure that people know the person who you are revealing without having a character, like, say out of nowhere, "Remember the Reverse Flash?" Waid mentioned that he had been dealing with that issue on a new project he's doing for DC that's coming out next year.

When you put it like that, that is the stupidest and most out their way for Tim to discover their secret identity.

If you read "A Lonely Place of Dying", that's essentially what happened. Tim was in the audience at the circus when Dick's parents fell to their deaths, and as a very young kid at the time, the memory stayed with him. He remembered Dick's quadruple somersault during the performance that the ringmaster said only three people in the world could do, and when Robin did it on some security footage broadcast on the news, Tim put two and two together. And that meant if Dick was Robin, then Bruce Wayne his guardian must be Batman. That's the story, whether it seems out there or not.

I think I did read that, but it wasn't very memorable to me. If anything they should just retcon Tim's original to being a Batman and Robin fanboy, who accidentally discovers their identities and keeps it to himself until he decides to help them and eventually becomes the 3rd Robin.

Maybe even have Dick train Tim before he partners up with Bruce.

I absolutely love how you put this. I didn't realize I was bi until college, I met someone and everything just.... clicked. Reading the issue in question, I swear to god someone bisexual had to have written it because a lot of the thoughts Tim had felt so so at home with my own thoughts at the time, it felt very... I'm not sure of the right word, but damn it felt nice to read a character having those thoughts. I'm way past feeling like an outcast or an abnormal person since I've come out in the last several years, but things Tim was saying made me feel OK about being confused for so long.

Kind of surprised to hear he's coming back. They're going to have to change the term from "Cancel" to: "Temporary Time-Out Culture".

Not that I remember. The closest I could think of is his legal war with Richard Meyer, which I lost track of during the pandemic. But I could have missed something else. If there's one thing I've learned on these boards, it's that @SouthtownKid tends to know his Comic history.

A bunch of people were jumping on him a while back. Pretty sure we discussed it in this thread, although good luck finding it now. I'm sure someone here remembers more than I do.
