Hasbro's cocaine must have been laced with some strong stuff when they decided the Canadian price of this should be $155. That's ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY FIVE DOLLARS... for a leader and a deluxe. How about no.

FansToys-level pricing madness aside, that Ford Explorer looks great! Excellent job on the alt mode, and a charming old-school transformation and bot design. Almost looks like a modern take on something out of G2! Which makes sense, I suppose, considering that's when the JP movie was released. Bless those psychedelic 90's colours.

So... anyone want just the T-Rex, haha? I just want that tour car!

Why do people keep saying this is a deluxe? It's easily a voyager comparable to Kingdom Optimus Primal.

"Basic math" implies you can show your work -- which nobody can. These justifications are frustrating because people just whip out numbers from thin air, inventing rules that don't apply to the rest of the brand, and somehow concluding we're actually paying less than we should. And for all we know the actual MSRP for this set is much cheaper, that this is a case of algorithm dickery or whatever's been affecting recent exclusives that are being sold for higher prices than we were told (Skywarp & Sideswipe, Beast Wars reissues, Afterlife Ectrotron, Hotlink...).

I miss when multipacks cost less than the sum of their parts. Y'know, a discount, because there's enough of a profit margin already so they can afford to knock a few bucks off. *sigh*

Because, as people here are usually very, very quick to point out, "deluxe" and "voyager" refer to price points and not size. Which is the general defense for shrimpy deluxes like Cliffjumper or undersized voyagers like Primal.

In fact, you even said as much in the SG Goldbug thread:

Seems rather unfair, then, to call JP93 a Voyager based on comparisons of size when he has ball-joint elbows, cavernous thighs, and a transformation scheme cribbed from several different deluxe figures.

Leader msrp is currently $52.99, not $44.99 and JP93 is somewhere between deluxe ($22.99) and voyager ($31.99). Assuming voyager for arguments sake, that's $84.98. In addition, most collabs have a roughly $10 markup to account for any tooling changes and licensing. So technically there should be a $10 markup for the T-Rex (Jurassic Park license) and $20 for the Ford Explorer (Jurassic Park and Ford) bringing that total to $114.98. You could argue that there's nothing inherently Jurassic Park about the T-Rex, so go ahead and subtract the $10 upcharge for it's license fee and it comes out to $104.98 which is only a single penny less than msrp of $104.99

"Cavernous thighs" exist on all price points, or are you ignoring those on the leader t-rex mold? You're correct that size doesn't equal price point exactly, however there is a limit to it. Optimus Primal is the smallest voyager we have, and he's about as tall as the tallest deluxe in wfc. JP39 looks to be larger than Optimus Primal, which places him firmly as a voyager.

Looks like they went with a Dr. Allen Grant inspired head sculpt, right down to the hat.

since they seem intent on exploiting their connection with Universal Studios (the TF ride, the Back to the Future crossover and potential Universal Monsters Dracula crossover coming)...I am crossing fingers for more stuff like a JAWS made out of Cybershark/Sky-Byte, a Battlestar Galactica Viper out of the tetrajet mold and the ultimate would be the glamour tram tour vehicle from Hollywood's Studio Tour

I just realized one reason I like the T-Rex bot (besides it having a nice dino mode and a good robot head sculpt): its color scheme evokes my favorite Headmaster, good ol’ Chromedome.

My opinion is that the hat was designed that way to evoke both, so it's up to the owner.
