The aligned continuity was a mess but I love Prime. The show was just so much more developed than the shows that came before and provided what felt like a fusion of G1s ideas with the movie aesthetic and Beast Wars\' tone. I still go back to rewatch it all the time and I love a lot of the toys that came out at the time. It remains a very fond memory for me and it is also my favorite post G1 TF show to this day. I am very excited to get the 10th anniversary reissues next year.

Loose connections is the Aligned mess in a nut shell, though, so all the more reason to include the Rescue Bots shows within that continuity.

Maybe you should? It's a pretty fun watch in its own right, less grandiose in scale than Prime obviously but sometimes all the better for it.

Not really, imo the first season is good and the starscream arc is amazing but other than that the entire thing is just the same thing over and over again

I was so happy when Blurr turned up in RiD and actually looked like Blurr. He really fit that show better than he did Rescue Bots in my opinion.
They also repeat the same character conflicts frequently. I can't remember how many times they made an episode about Sideswipe being reckless or him and Strongarm bickering.

Plus the humans became more and more marginalized on the show compared to the first season.

Rest in pieces, truly a bad show that took too long to end, it's legacy will be a fun giant dragon toy and a Shockwave with neat lobster details.

I enjoyed Prime, although I thought it was less charming overall than Animated. I feel like I shouldn't complain though since Prime was the last time I enjoyed a Transformers show.

As for the toys, they were a mixed bag. I loved first edition Optimus, but the general retail line was lacking with a lot of figures, especially by actually skipping over some Japanese releases entirely.

Happy 10th, TF Prime. Having watched the show for the first time 8 or 9 years after it began, I enjoyed it. Great character design and art, and good characters. It's a great show!

As a crusty, grizzled GeeWunner from the 80s, I was very happy with what they did with Prime. When I remember the worst things from the 80s cartoons, it's the agonizing animation errors and the need to constantly bring in new characters because the toylines got so packed. Prime did it right. For one, they had the technology with computer animation to make the characters look consistent. But they also had a small, minimal cast of characters, and they let them be unique characters. Pretty smart for a kids' cartoon. At its best, it achieved at a higher level of storytelling than the movies of the same era. So few iterations of Transformers series are actually good in my opinion, it seemed to be a labor of people who just had love for the concept and the characters.

And Jeffrey Combs is the definitive Ratchet. Nobody else can touch it.

I laughed out loud at that one! A nice little tip of the hat.

I really enjoyed it when I was watching through at the time (10 YEARS AGO!).
I feel like I should give it another go.

It was this and Transformer Animated, and the Unicron Trilogy that made me a loyal fan. The cool figures, the intriguing series, and the clever reinvention of G1`s core concepts, that was the stuff. I was a in my early teens when this show came out. I remember watching Screamer execute Cliffjumper and thinking \"What is this?!\" It was dark and light at the same time in a way I loved. I took Arcee and Bumblebee to heart in this series, but after playing the connected Cybertron Games and reading the Books, I can honestly say this series suffered because it held too much back for the sake of simplicity. All the same, this series was the last good, honest attempt Hasbro made to reinvent Transformers and it is a shame. Let me know when Hasbro wants to try this again, I got a whole bunch of notes, sketches, and a pitch for new direction when everyone gets theirs heads out of the big old 1984 GEEWUN`s ass.

I would temper your expectations. Hasbro isn't going to care what you have to say. And unless you have years of animation expertise under your belt, nobody else will, either.

Thanks for the compliment. By the way, do you want to start a conversation on why they ditched die-cast and rubber tires? Because I could rant like this all day long.

    Cost.

That's literally the entire reason for why they don't use die-cast and rubber anymore.

Well, that`s capitalism for you. Those greedy guses up in the executive office can't get enough money as they hollow out the quality. Typical. Furthermore, you missed my point. I just want to see Transformers be more than a Costco-grade brand. I loved it for its boldness, its creativity, and sheer mind-numbing awesomeness. The last of that died with the Beast Wars Uprising series and the TFCC, and nothing short of a Wonka Golden Ticket will sway me. I'm done with the Brand anyways, my life and the people in it became way more important.

Cost wasn't the only problem - it actually is straight up detrimental to figure quality these days and has been for years.

Rubber? Just ask anyone who owns original RID figure who turns into a car just how scared they are about the disintegration problem of the tires. You don't have car modes that become utterly useless with plastic tires.

Die Cast? Binaltech proved the folly of die-cast because A) they chip far easier than plastic and B) the weight if not managed properly can mean a figure can't even stand up under its own weight.

Neither of these have anything to do with the thread topic, by the way, so I don't know why you brought them up. This thread is about Prime's anniversary.

I have some unfortunate news for you my man, this show wasn't really Hasbro's brain-child since they didn't have control over it due to how difficult to work with the people in charge of Prime were.

Also this show wasn't that good anyways so to call it the 'last good honest attempt' is just false. It's also bold of you to think your own concepts are better than what they're doing right now. Not saying the direction they've been going is the answer but I'd recommend reeling in the ego a bit, just a little. Call it a hunch but I don't see Hasbro randomly approaching some rando online to ask for guidance. That's not to say you shouldn't share your ideas, we have a headcanon thread in General for that specific kinda thing.

I'm gonna ignore that comment about Beast Wars: Uprising and just point out that this is the perspective of someone with a very naïve view of the world.
