So tired of goth/death/skull/metal-only Todd's Wetdreamverse, but that Wonder Woman does look pretty attractive, so I will probably end up buying her. Have to say, I'm annoyed that figures for both Marvel and DC these days go nuts on the male side with veins/ripples/crotch bulges, but the women figures all have a very generic "slim/petite" figure... I'm not saying I think they should be giving WW some anime-level knockers, but she ends up looking off model whereas the male characters look like they stepped right off the page... I think her bust needs to be about 30% bigger to look accurate, it just looks shrunken compared to the rest of her body proportions.
Yea Diana here looks more Ariana Grande and less Amazonian. It’d be some shit if the Harley Quinn figure from the 1st waves looks more diesel than either of the Wonder Women figures
Well, I'm sure behind the scenes there are probably several sculptors, so that may be part of it, but the "mohawk" Wonder Woman looked better in my opinion, so it's weird they're going backwards in body sculpt. The face on this one looks better than the mohawk one though, I think. I really get annoyed with the Marvel Legends though, and seeing as we only have about 4 females in the McF DCM line right now there's not much for comparison, but I think these companies (and the companies in the background approving these items--Warner, Disney) are too sensitive about whether something can be perceived as "sexual" or not, and it's created this weird double standard where male characters get every thing from short/fat/bulked/jacked/exploding muscles, whereas all females (except for Rogue for some dumb reason) are "one size fits all"... I'm speaking as a male collector here, but if I were a woman, say, particularly of the curvier type, I would feel prejudiced against in this situation. I know Hasbro is also cheap and stingy as hell, and just wants to minimize how many molds they have to make, so females also typically get the "painted on" cringeworthy costumes, but Todd is not using any reused tooling it seems (maybe joints underneath the body parts, but that's it), so if anything, I think we're right to expect a bit more attention to detail from his figures.
I agree. I’m shifting my hopes for less “classic” and more event-based versions that will serve two goals - the event and a near-to-classic version of the character. I think the challenge is that many of us want pre-New 52 figures and that is likely what the contract steers him away from. I’ll put money that after the Death Metal event, the next figures will come from Future Slate. I could actually get behind a few of those of the articulation and scale is corrected. This is more likely than Blackest Night IMO simply because it’s the new thing DC wants to push.
I'd like to know the story for the immortal Wonder Woman as the story seems to be set at the end of time.
Received my McFlash this weekend and while I still wish it was 6-inch scale and a pre-New 52 version, I appreciate the sculpting. As many others have said, he needed extra hands and perhaps an extra head (w/o the smirk and extended ear pieces). Does anyone know if alcohol will remove the yellow lightning lines on his head and chest? I’m tempted but don’t want to ruin the red. Finally, this will be a version of Wally West. Barry Allen would never have this smirk on his face.
Dark Nights: Death Metal DC Multiverse Batcycle I know that not everyone here likes Dark Knights: Metal (and I’m assuming they feel the same towards Death Metal), but this bike makes my inner child happy. It has eyes for headlights, a wheel in its mouth, and a design that looks like it was ripped out of a heavy metal album cover. How can you not love that?
Picked up the Teen Titans Cyborg from Target last week. Aside from some loose shoulders, I think he's a pretty good figure. The only thing I really don't like is the blaster effect. It looks like an extended buttplug. Once I got that visual in my head, I couldn't unsee it. It was easy enough to remove the effect from the blaster hand, though. This is only the second McDC figure that I've purchased with the other being Harley Quinn. That's mostly because (insert beating dead horse here) I'm burned out on Batman. I've got a ton of different Batmen from multiple lines and there's nothing that I've seen released this year that gave me the need to replace any of those. My wishlist going forward would be for the rest of the Teen Titans to go with Cyborg and anything to do with Swamp Thing. I feel like the Swamp Thing comics are generally not well represented in toy form. Unless I'm mistaken there's never been an Abigail Arcane, Anton Arcane, Tefe Holland, or Alec Holland figure. All things that I would absolutely love to add to my shelf. As much as I enjoy working on customs to add to the collection, I would love to see some official releases as well. I think some of the Vertigo designs would especially be in McFarlane's wheelhouse. **Edit** Damn! I need to get better at dusting the shelves beside my work desk!
Here you go: McFarlane Toys: McFarlane Toys It's McFarlane's store on Amazon. Looks like the bike is currently out of stock, though.
Wish Todd would go 90’s anti-mainstream toy company and release big ass figures like he said he could at the beginning of the year. I’m glad his BAF waves usually only require 4 figures(not counting the build a batmobile because come on....) I wouldn’t be surprised especially since it still seems to be Bat-centric Spoiler apparently Batman dies but Bruce Wayne is alive and there’s a new Batman .
Presumed to beLucius Fox's son. Not really a spoiler since it's already out there. The new stories are a glimpse of what the future can be. The different titles don't happen at the same time as well. Some are set even further into the future which I think will get confusing quite fast if you can't read all the titles they will release in that 2 month trial period.
Got the McFarlane Rebirth Batman today and woof...it is rough. The head looks even worse that the Wave 1 Batman. The gauntlets are huge and the hands look tiny. The cape is just...dumb as shit. Not impressed with this one at all.
