Read someone found sets near San Diego, so drove around to 3 Targets this morning (about a half hour from where the person found a set), and had nothing TMNT related. No GIJoe stuff either.

At least you know you’re going to get them...lol. I’m still considering them. I never did get any comic turtles or the rest of the Classics.

I just watched that Pixel Dan vid and another takeaway from it seems to be that the “made to order” approach they are using with Tokka and Rahzar may likely be used for upcoming “expensive” items like vehicles and playsets since they are not going to be brick and mortar friendly due to the size and price. All I can say is, if you want Tokka and Rahzar, you better preorder them. Not only does that guarantee you get them, it also sends NECA the message that fans are willing to go that route...and maybe it will prompt them to do more sales that way.

What a douche. Why would any company allow someone like this to be their voice?

I think I would rather have the video game versions of Tokka, Rahzar, and Super Shredder.

and after NECA’s tweet, we better order 2 of each lol. I’m ordering two so I can have some leverage for the next release.

Yeah, Randy’s response strikes me as a bit tone deaf. I don’t think that he’s completely wrong. He made a few good points, but he also doesn’t strike a very sympathetic tone with the people who haven’t been able to order the figures online due to ridiculously quick sellouts from bots. I understand that some of it might be an instant gratification thing with fans, but not all of it.
Personally, I’m still looking for Beebop and Rocksteady, and those have been out for months. And it’s not that I refuse to go out and look or that the coronavirus is keeping me indoors (at least not right now), but it’s that the nearest Target store to me is well over a hundred miles away. So while I do check there when I can, I can’t pop by a Target every day to have a quick look, and I’m sure I’m not alone, in that regard.

Having said all that, can someone who’s preordered from Neca’s site before, tell me if they charge your credit card at the time of preorder or is it at the time that the item is ready?

I’m asking because I do think the Tokka and Rahzar is a big step in the right direction. I was on the fence about buying them before, just because I’m more into the cartoon Turtles than the movie ones. But they do look cool, and I’d like to support Neca’s decision to make these to order. It’s just a lot more reasonable process for something like this, and a lot less hassle for someone who has had zero luck ordering any of this stuff from the big chain websites and who doesn’t have a Target close by.

I still think these are the only 2 "desired" figures that they'll do in this fashion. I wonder why they went this way with their own site instead of Lootcrate though? They already have a made to order thing going for TMNT.

That's been the big msg on twitter, some "insiders" are insulating that Neca is breaking contract by doing this

    Upfront payment

They don't lootcrate to have people missing out on figures, you missed how many people complained about missing out on spirit splinter and then they did another limited run and people complained about again missing out

Ah, that would explain it. Unfortunate. Glad I'm only interested in the video game line and I don't deal with all this nonsense.

Not quite the head but being VP & General Mgr of Product Development plus being there for almost 20 years has given him a lot of say in the company. I vaguely recall claims that he took over their social media channels because no one else wanted the job and they've become his babies since then.

Here's the thing though, just because he enjoys it and it's his kingdom to rule as he sees fit doesn't mean he's good at it. Truth is he doesn't have the right temperament for it and being jaded from receiving negative tweets from upset customers isn't an excuse to act just like they are. Not when you're officially repping your company. I've spent most of my professional career in digital marketing and I can safely say if the social media managers at any of my jobs behaved like he does even a quarter of the time they would have been canned, along with their directors for allowing that shit to happen at all.

Some people may like his 'style' but in the end it's going to cost the company good will, imo. /rant

OT, I'm going to wait and see how the first day of the Tokka/Rahzar pre-order goes and whether their online store can handle the traffic well or if it's going to crap the bed like it has in the past. I want to support the pre-order if it means it'll help convince the company this is the best way to move forward, but I'm not jumping through impossible hoops just to get screwed in the end again.
