Anybody else want a Bumper from the CJ/BB mold? Four versions of the mold, three yellow and I’m done!

 

Hey guys, it's Hasbro *and* Takara. And since Takara is the one who strives for animation accuracy why are we blaming Hasbro when Takara has a hand in the design?

Especially when, in all three cases, the "partsforming" was to give the figure an animation accurate look in bot mode.

Also, if you're upset now, you're going to want to just skip Kingdom. Because Beast Wars made an art out of integrating accessories in to alt mode.

For now I'm passing on Arcee, but I'm getting Elita because I dislike the combiner one

I'm of the opinion (and I think you and I have had a back and forth about this, but I'm not sure) that "shields" was an intentional design choice in Earthrise. The battlemasters double as shields, Optimus Prime's trailer door becomes a shield, Cliffjumper/Hubcap/Bumblebee's rear end becomes a shield, Scorponok has a shield, Ironhide/Ratchet have a shield, I'd easily believe that Arcee's hoverboard was supposed to be a shield but ended up too big. Too many characters have ended up with shields for it to not be intentional

 

I personally don’t mind parts forming as long as it gives a more cartoon accurate robot mode. I do foresee a lot of complaining bout parts forming in kingdom tho. Saw a comment on the beast wars rumors thread by the reliable leaker that said we better get used to parts forming cause it ain’t going anywhere (or something along those lines).

I'm getting 2 Hubcaps for this reason. Bumper is a head swap away. I know they're different cars but it's close enough for me.

With Arcee and Elita having the entirety of their altmode on their back, they could easily make a thunderblast out of the mold by swapping the car with a boat.

I hope they improve prime's deco, a metallic deco like megatron would be cool

 

If they re-release him in a G1 deco I hope they cast the shoulder joints in red plastic this time.
Doing away with the peg holes would be nice too. But I guess that's not feasible.

huh, no, that wasn't me, but that's a really interesting observation I missed.... I don't know if I agree on it being a good thing, but I do see the thematic sense of it. (you'd think they'd have gone for more melee Battlemasters too then...)

and while I'm still not a fan, I'm a lot more "ok' with Ironhide/presumably Ratchet's take on it, since there is actually at least a little transformation involved to make it more "shield like" (not to mention it being a smaller percentage of the alt mode AND I'm a little more forgiving since they are achieving an Earth alt mode off of a base mode that I wasn't sure they actually could remold into one...)

 

Gotcha, I know I've had that back and forth with someone, who adamantly disagreed with me and thought it was more of a design afterthought. I'm not really of the opinion of it being good or bad, it's just something I don't really mind I guess. I'd be more angry if the rear of cliffjumper/bumblebee came off to reattach and couldn't be used as a shield, or just came off and was set to the side.

And 100% agreed on Ironhide, I'm honestly amazed at the earthrise remold and how different but the same it looks

 

YEAH i PREFER THE G1 SUNBOW LOOK FOR SURE.
WITH THAT SAID i AM SUPER HAPPY that she is getting made again and has such a big role in the new cartoon. ABOUT TIME , Id say. Hope she stays around as a mainstay for a while and we eventually get the sunbow Elita as an upgrade.

I hadn't really twigged the commonality of shields in Earthrise but I think it could go in-hand with a recent notion I had in particular regarding ER Cliffy & 'Bee.
I know I'm a bit of weirdo in this but I find the no ab window model chest a bit off-putting, and as it occurred to me that at the new scale I could probably just sub my V1 MP 'Bee something clicked, what if it's not purely a budget decision to partsform but also conscious decision to make a concession to and not totally undercut, as it were, the MP figures too much?
Then the shields evolve out of that when you apply the additional thought of doing it in a way that also adds value and ties into the line play pattern maybe?
