Hah, all these years later and my composite Ark image still keeps popping up! (it's a backdrop I created for photoshoots when I used to make my own custom/kitbash stuff) - the giveaway is the entrance section which is taken from a different cartoon still and blended in.

I do like the idea of an Earth crashed version, maybe just the rear half of your design built into a mountainside support structure? That would make an excellent standalone piece by itself, even if it doesn't scale with anything. But if you do it, rather than just paint the engines a different colour, how about adding some damage detail to the surfaces? Kind of rough and beaten up looking  

 

For sure, I saved all of them on my computer back then, they are beautiful! But in this case it was also the first image that popped up when I googled the G1 cartoon Ark

Question: the ones we ordered from Etsy, are those already made or are you still needing to make them? If I wanted the paint a little different - say a more metallic paint job - is it too late for that and, if not, how much extra would that be? I'm thinking a color similar to the orange metallic on your metallic Unicron but like halfway between that and the yellow you're currently using.

 

Well this will be the first hand made piece of Transformers art I will own. Looking forward to it.

 

I had another thought about a crashed version. How about a sort of mini-diorama bookend? Not the whole mountain obviously, just the slope with the rear of the Ark in and the entrance slipway, on an L-shape cross section of scenery.

Then with the Nemesis there could be an underwater version of that as the opposite bookend! (with all those extra buildings)

 

...that is a fantastic idea, like the minas tirith / minas morgul bookends that weta workshop made for the return of the king collector's edition!..

 

I thought this would be a Canopy figure.

They are all made to order as I haven't had time to build up any stock. And yes, you can have yours customized, even now. Best way to do it is to message me through Etsy so that all notes will be associated with your order and easy for me to find. I'll calculate the difference and send you a Paypal invoice for it. For something as minor as a paint change, I only charge extra if I have to buy something I don't have on hand.

 

I was going to do an orangeish color myself because I showed my wife the Ark in the space shot and later in the mountain and said "Most of the time it's orange".

Being the good wife she is who isn't a transformer fan at all she said "Yeah, but the crashed one was what, in there for millions of years right? It's all rusted and crap now. Even the engine nozzles are orange. I know it's a cartoon but I see that as it's all rusted from sitting there and the paint is worn off. You can do what you want but unless it's a crashed ship you've got, I'd go with the yellow and black nozzles like the first episode."

I know it's a crappy cartoon with lazy colors but if you're going to justify things for it to make sense, that made a lot of sense. Probably just running with the original yellow color myself.

@Bot Sculptor you know what would be cool for this a stand with translucent plastic blast off effects lit up by leds to recreate this

 

I'm not really worried about justifying anything. I just think a good metallic would look nicer. I didn't ask him to make it fully orange - asked for halfway between the yellow he used and the orange metallic of Unicron. So it'll be a yellow-orange metallic (should be similar to the screenshot above by @deathsheadII). Should give it a more realistic look I think. And I'm keeping the thrusters the normal color.

just placed an order for one but ouch the shipping to the uk bumped it up to £190 thank god for paypal credit i can pay it off at my leasure over the next 4 months  

got the perfect spot for it ontop of a record unit near my technics 1210's just got enough room for it there

 

This is very tempting.

I wonder if I can sell my Revo TMNT figures as I need to make a space for it.
