If there are more than 8000 backers, then there will be however many made to meet the demand. So if there are 15,000 backers, there will be 15,000 made.

    You ninja'ed me. LOL!

I think there are some nagging issues for me here. Metroplex, even without the arm guns pointing up, was nearly 24" tall; so Unicron is not really much taller. I'm seeing alot of thoughts that this is like an "MP Unicron"; but the kibble on the legs/etc. don't seem to portray that. It weighs twice as much as the other titans; but not 5x as much. They would only make around 8,000; but how many normal Titans do they make? It seems to be pretty detailed; but for this price, I'd expect a super-duper paintjob too.

Ultimately for me, just like MP-44, it doesn't matter how cool the toy is; I just can't bring myself to spend that kind of money on a single item. But I respect all those who can!

As I think I saw before, but it may not have ti because it's not being sold as a children's toy. And no that would not mean we can get a G1 Megatron via Haslab.

I don’t know. I don’t think anyone can say for certain but maybe China? It’s huge over there. That’s where a lot of the live action box office came from over seas and hasbro does do cons over there and they get exclusives not to mention the popular KOs come out of China. It’s very possible. Big difference is Asia is not a very vocal fandom of much online.

Not to sounds insulting so don’t take it as a jab but there’s a lot of entitlement that gets tossed around in the fandom where it is not everywhere else.

Which would make my point even further (and I've since edited my original post, since I should have said "at least" rather than "only"). More units means less likely to hold its original value (as the Barge has clearly done).

There are other factors, of course. I'm not saying these WILL go down in price afterward (such would be an extremely risky assumption to make). Just that it can't be assumed these will go up in value over the long term.

China certainly has a lot more people, so it's possible.

probably doesnt need to meet the drop test since its being sold to adults as a collectors item and not marketed to children

China's internet is not very permissive. While there's been a rise of the middle class there, many aspects of their lives are still heavily regulated.

It’s impressive for sure, but we are the consumers, and have full right to voice our concerns with such an expensive product. We don’t owe Hasbro anything.

It’s still technically a toy and has to go through the same safety procedures like a drop test. G1 fort max is more a collectible today than toy and he’s never been rereleased because he can’t pass the test. Any collectible that’s sold has to follow the drop test and other tests. Omega is not looking like he’ll be sold at chain retail and he is pretty much in the same category as unicron so he’ll have to follow the same things and we all know what just happened with him

There will be at least 8000 made if backed. They will make as many are demanded over that amount.

Not really. Collecting has a heavy connection to impulse and even if they have the cash to squander, there are other possible entertainment avenues that they might not have considered.
Somehow everyone not rolling in cash disproves that there is a large market? Yeah... right. All this not passing would show is that they can't charge a crap ton of cash at a time and expect to get away with it, which by the way is another bonus. This is an opportunity to draw a line in the sand.

Don't know why I am even talking to you tigatron2002 what with you being on ignore, but I digress.

Man, I wish they had offered some form of payment plan or long-term funding possibility. There's just a zero percent chance I could procure that kind of funds in that time period short of selling things I consider vital to the rest of my life at the moment. Like a kidney, or a guitar, or a vehicle. I wish so much I could jump on this though.

I love that it's being done. Just wish I had the funds laying around to throw at it, even though I don't have the room for it at the moment. I'd dig out a shrine in my office somewhere. Maybe hang a display case from the ceiling for him?

I think one of the reasons it costs so much more is the variant reason. Fortress Maximus was primarily a retool of Metroplex, which kept costs down, and then had the general release version along with Takara's and was repainted into Grand Maximus. How may retools / repaints can they plan to do with this thing?
