Without being an apologist for Takara, her are my thoughts on the rising costs of Takara’s Masterpiece Transformers (in no particular order)
    1. Decreased toy market in Japan
    2. Loss of Pokémon license
    3. Increased part count
    4. Decrease in Masterpiece revenue due to:
    A) decreased demand
    B) KO Sales
    5. Price restructuring to higher end collectibles like HOT Toys
    6. The decline of the Yen
    7. Increased factory costs

**8. (This last one could be the most controversial). Takara is no longer pricing these figures for the American market. I know this is hard to believe. But, there are A LOT of collectors throughout the rest of the world including Asian markets which won’t think twice about paying this price for a high end Transforming collectible. Just my two cents. The American dollar just isn’t worth what it once was.

This thing looks less appealing than the toon-ish 3rd party figures and will cost twice as much. WINNAH! Congrats to those spending $200 more than many paid for Fans Toys' Omega to buy this. Hope you enjoy him...a lot! Haha

There will be those who will always complain about price. Most will have valid points.

I've been collecting various pieces of the Siege line. Yes, some are a bit pricey.

The difference between the Siege toys and MP44 is, the price of a Siege toy isn't the equivalent of 2 car payments. Everyone has the choice as to whether they want to buy these toys.

Is a giant chunk of plastic worth more than a weekend out with family and friends? Will it affect daily living expenses? Does the overall product justify the high price tag?
If it does, than by all means, add it to your collection.
If it doesn't, put that money towards other things.

Personally, I can afford it, I just cannot justify that price.

Monetarily speaking, the dollar has gotten much stronger this year. Selling to American markets makes sense so to say the dollar isn’t worth what it once was is simply not true. Plus a strong dollar should make buying foreign products cheaper for us... that makes the $450 price tag even more surprising

Thats 450 going through an american importer. You're paying the cost so everybody in between can make some money. Most japanese stores will have him for 35000 yen which is about $308. Amazon jp will most likely be even cheaper than that ($280-290). Most likely if you live in the states you can get this for $350 or less unless the dollar does some crazy invert.

Honestly, it looks like TT is just doing what Sentinel has been doing for a few of years now which is to leave preorders open for a while, produce just enough to sell to their niche audience and move onto the next product. This strategy probably started with MP Dinobot: Preorders stayed open for a long time, but when he hit stores it didn't stay long and usually MPs stay in stock domestically for a while. Folks, I would say this is TT's new game plan and it will probably be like this for a while.

I hope they continue with this strategy. Tampoed Faction Symbol tech should not come cheap.

This threads at an all time low . It’s pretty disgusting reading some of the comments made in here , and all for what ? Difference of opinions ? A lot you need to grow the hell up. It’s a real shame to see that a place I come for an “escape “ from all the other crap going on in the world take over these boards. A lot of you need to look in the mirror. I think your problems run deeper then an expensive toy.

Agreed on the over all pricing of some products. However comparing a phone or anything else for that matter to a toy is kind of laughable

The only thing that has my attention is the Spike figure. Lol!
I always hated the one that came with Mp-10. Spike without his hardhat is not Spike IMO.

It's a toy when it's conveniently a toy, any other time people fight to the death to defend it as an adult collectible.

He had the same thought I did and that's that there are so many things you can buy for that amount of money from dishwashers to laptops.

I never understood why some people fight over the distinction. They are all toys- some are just expensive and probably too fragile for children
