See, I looked at the original images and was hoping [I guess] that I saw crude pixel lines were someone had drawn in the faction outline in MS Paint just to give the general idea but, man, these last few images.. I guess I'm just wrong.

Seems awful though, "Hey gang, here's a giant red blot to show you where to put your faction logo... Because, now you'll have to put one there or look at a giant red blot."

I needed some scale context. I also cheated by giving Downbeat headlights from the real 935 and a slight blue tint.

Prime photo is from TFSource, although I've got to say it looks similar to Tcracker's work.

Mhm but that was planned from the initial release though, same with Hellfire n Wrestle and it wasn't a case of the same deco with a slight tweak but rather two very different shades of green with the toy one having a metalic surface treatment and different paint details compared to the toon version. Z is talking about a post release revision of the existing design as is with minor alteration and that's just not something companies really do. Even KFC's Transistor had a very different surface and tone treatment between the v1 and v2.

I'm not even sure MT would bother with a G2 version for that matter since its just G1 jazz with different decals. I think if they're going to do anything with the mold in the future they should appease the people after a slavish real world car version and give it a high gloss white coat with all the racing text tampos printed on etc. Make it a special limited edition and it'll sell to all the folks who want that specifically.

I figure Gundog's variants were a way to get more miles out of the mold and a repaint option since Hound is kinda a standalone mold save for eHobby's yellow mech. That said, there's certainly no rule saying that they can't release a second version [God knows I've been campaigning for it] that favors the real car more to squeeze every nickel from the fandom possible. As I've said, they can certainly omit those extra faces and speakers to save some money.

I only hope that, like ToyWorld, they find some way to tweak the head sculpt or something to create more discourse just for the hell of it all.

Now for that to bite me in the butt and this be a TFCon exclusive or something.

He is looking a little too good to pass up. Normally don't care for Maketoys' aesthetic, but this is near perfect imo.

This will be my first MakeToys acquisition. Frankly, I've never liked the look of any of their past works. To me, this looks akin to a carbot Takara would do and fits in with the others, I think. I personally really couldn't say the same with their Gundog and Hellfire molds. Very pleasantly surprised with this. And even moreso that they're pumping it out so fast. Wish all 3P releases could do the same.

Is there a more solid release date for Downbeat yet? Or is it still hopefully January/Q1 ?

    Just revising my budget. :)

Last I saw was a picture of the Figure holding a sign saying January 2017.

Man, I hate those knees. Super broken sculpt....

    The red faction spot sucks

And that rear bumper is a stupid mess.

Those are the things that have driven me away here. Mostly the knees and bumper.

They'll probably start shipping him to retailers by the end of Jan. So most of us will get him about a month later.

I think ppl are making a mountain out of molehill with the Autobrand spot. Wouldn't he just have one there anyway? Ppl complain that TB/Hoist options don't have a clean spot but when someone offers it up on a plate it's wrong too.

I repeat, when you put a translucent white outlined one in that space it'll look fantastic. Bookmark this post to point it out if it doesn't.

Well, I prefer to use the clear back symbols w no outline so it's a mild dislike for me. I will have to order different style for him. Now if the patch was white.....

I prefer the option to choose the size and style of my faction symbol, and if I want it there.
This is like putting a big purple spot and white outline on despotron's chest- not necessary. Just leave the flat space and we can handle the rest.

Personally I'd go with white backed red opaque faction symbol, if only because I don't want thinner white lines surrounded by a thicker one. With opaque red but white backed I can increase the size steadily until one leaves a narrow outline, whereas with white outlined transparent, I'm potentially at the mercy of both the size of the red area, and where the outline begins.

    Just personal preference, though.

So, there is a problem with them putting a designated spot for an Autobot insignia?....Never heard that in a Hasbro/Takara thread. o_O
