I do need to fix the hip ratchets on mine. Unfortunately, I don't appear to have a screwdriver small enough for the second set of teeny-tiny screws in his waist.

Also, I'll add that while the limbs in the shoot look great on Sky Reign, the G2 Aerialbots are also stunning. G2 Slingshot's gold color makes a lot more sense when put on a combiner with a gold head.

 

I've used this config too, but to me it's more Neo-G1. The "bird" mode I use is closer to the pics shown here, except I plug both swords into each other, then attach that to the tail. It allows the body to lean forward a bit an look more like a Dino-bird perching or getting ready to soar.

If he'd been a Leader, he probably would have had the separate animal mode gimmick...but since this is the first G1 Sky Lynx in years, I'll take what I can get.

 

The sooner he's out at Canadian retail, the better...though I fear I may not see him.

Realistically I may not get the chance till TFCon.

This figure genuinely needed to be a leader class.

They were so damn close.

We still need a 3rd party to pick him up and do him justice in larger scale for classics or Masterpiece.

I'm talking fully articulated neck and tail.... separation of bodies... and tri-fold out wings with a laaaarge span.

Archaeopteryx/Lynx combine to form space dragon or flying sauropod.

 

I think he would look better if he didn't have the "ears" in dinobird mode.

BEAUTIFUL photos. Love the comparisons.

That said... this may be the only time in history I actually prefer the G1 toy to the modern release. Something about the plainness of the original actually works in its favor. Not sure what it is.

Also helps that it was super detailed and articulated for its time already.

Maybe Hasbro is intentionally adopting the third party pricing structure. "Here's the $100 upgrade kit you didn't know you wanted for your $25 Voyager."
