I don't know if someone has written about this, but, since Attinger was shot by one of Optimus guns, shouldn't he have blown in pieces or something like that? His wound looked like something a simple human weapon would do. I mean, Optimus' gun was capable of killing Decepticons, so a human without any armor would just be disintegrated.

 

It was probably set to stun....Optimus actually missed, and all the stuff flying off the ground is what killed him.

 

Yep, I think it was not a direct hit, rather, close enough to kill him with the residual energy and debris/shrapnel. Otherwise it might have been like the big alien gun shots from District 9, just a cloud of goo.

 

Optimus didn't shot Attiger in the face,he shot close,so the shrapnel killed him.Also, then everything exploded; if the Decepticons died, imagine a human body

 

I don't know I mean I know about Attinger, but if a person got shot with one of those explosive shells it might just tear straight through your whole torso and cut you in half without going off at all.

They were shooting at other things made out of metal most of the time not soft fleshy things.

Well, at least there was a body to see so we could confirm the bastard's death.

 

As Moy said, PG-13 is the reason why we still see a body. Otherwise, there'd be nothing but a fine pink mist.

 

Had nothing to do with the rating. If it was a direct impact he'd be vaporized like in DOTM. He shot somewhat near his feet. Wasn't a direct hit. This was probably just a plot tool to give the effect of showing the dead villain rather than him just turning into dust.

 

Or to set it for a Silas-down type scenario?

Watch the scene in slo-mo. Optimus shoots him dead on. There is no explosion of dirt---just sparks straight off of Attinger. Besides, any ground hit would probably at least hurt Cade, who was standing right next to Attinger.

 

I stand corrected. And he does actually seem to have a hole straight through his chest.

Still the same idea though - He was shown dead just to say "look, the bad guy is dead".

 

Yeah, plus you can see a wound in his chest if you look.

I'd have to watch the scene again, but in DoTM, weren't the humans being disintegrated by spaceships that were firing lasers, not bullets? Maybe the fact that Optimus shot him with a bullet made a difference?

Except the weapon Optimus shot Attinger with was the same one he destroyed the magnet on Lockdown's ship with, and it shot energy beams.
