I'm leaning on this not being a KO and also thinking you got a great deal.

What are Lunch time specials exactly? I think I read some were that Takara employees make them out of boredom during their lunch break. Is that true?

A blatent sign of the ko/bootleg cab (the one done early this year) is the orangy-coloured front window.

there are a few things that are leading me to say that it is a ko...short stacks, orange glass, non-clear trailer, and the fact that it's sealed in a box with ties.

    Interesting.

Our "Lunchtime Convoy" has long stacks, rubber tyres, an orange wind shield. We bought that will the other 16 lunchtimes we own direct from Hong Kong back in day. That one is certainly not the new knock-off as we got that years before they started to be made, and we also own one of those (the one with the clear tyres).

The shortstack version (which is the same as Remys) is interesting as it falls in line with the clear blue Thundercracker (with US long missiles) which uses the US moulding rather than the Japanese Collectors Editions versions which most of the clear figures use.

As Remy's is the same, and got his from Tin Tin Happy, (a well known source in the day for clears and testshots) we'd lean towards it being from the same source as the "lunchtimes". We do not own the trailer for our original prime (as ours were loose not the CE boxed versions) but its interesting that you did not get the clear trailer. Most likely its a lunchtime cab that has been repackaged with a normal trailer.

But there are others on here that will know more.

Regarding the story behind the lunchtimes there are several stories that are thrown around, nothing has still been proven as 100% true, nor will it ever be. We use to have a decent break down of the main stories on our lunchtime galleries, but we lost that text a few years back and keep forgetting to re-write it. But here's a brief summary of some of the "theories".

Images of some of the toys were shown during one of the rarities panels at Botcon which is the closest to any "official acknowledgement" of the toys or any of the stories.

Which, if any, of the five stories are true? You will have to make up your own minds.

We already know that this is a Knock off from 2002 cause it was not a official release is that what you mean or are you trying to say that this is a knock off that was made just a little bit ago????

made recently..the all clear KO prime from recent ebay auctions had the orangish window....

i think someone did a scamble fest...took parts from a KO prime and mixed them up with parts (trailer) of a reissue prime...

So you ENJOY telling someone they did not get a great deal? It's almost like you are happy the guy did not get an actual rare piece. What do you care if he got a rare piece for $70? Jealous? How juvenille. You need a hug or some medication cause that is just not right.

Well, being a lunchtime special, I doubt there is more than a few, its probably a one-off, not a variant in a series. Its possable that one of the employees made a bunch of custom lables, and spent a lot of time making these clear TFs, but I think it was more of an enthusiast made custom. The enthusiast just happened to work at Hasbro/Takara. I know Tin-Tin had made quite a few different customs during the G1 reissue line production, and sold them on ebay, making quite a bit of money. After that, most fell into the hands of serious collectors. Most paid quite a bit of money for these, as there were no KOs to buy, so getting hold of one might get tricky, and expensive. I know if I paid hundreds of dollars for a rare figure, I wouldnt sell it unless I was seriously hard up for money, and even then, I would'nt give it away for a small fraction of what I paid for it.

But now since the days of the clear KO, all you need to do is buy one, and a TRU reissue, swap a few parts, slap on some white lables and faction symbols, or have Reprolables make you a custom set, and your done!

Are you still going to unbox it? If not, would it be possible to to take some shots of it within the box from other angles. So we can see the front hub?
