I bought a $30 HA Barricade from China and it finally came... Aside from the packaging being a tad beat up, it seems pretty much the same as all my other HAs. It almost seems like its a KO, but only in the sense that Hasbro didn't order them, like maybe the factory just did another run of a thousand of them just to flip them on eBay. Its a shame they can't do that for HA soundwave...

Year of the Dragon Ultimate Optimus Prime

Hello all, I am BRAND NEW to the board and VERY excited to find this site. Anyways, I have a question that I have been looking into for a good few hours and can't find an answer ANYWHERE.... Please, Please, PLEASE help a NooB if you can. Here is my issue:

I just purchased this YOTD Ultimate Optimus prime :
Seal Transformers Year of The Dragon Ultimate Optimus Prime Dark of The Moon | eBay

I have noticed that there are versions with both Chinese AND English writing and versions in just English. I also noticed that some of the boxes have the "Year of the Dragon" sticker on them and some don't.... Some in Chinese and some in English. Now, here is what really threw me off. On the bottom of the English version boxes there is an "also available" section that previews other transformers, On mine there is not such a section. Mine simply has a Transformers Dark of the moon logo there where the pics are on the English version... The problem is that I cannot find pics of the bottom of the Chinese release to compare mine with. Thus, I am VERY.....VERY concerned that I might have just bought myself a fake or KO.... Everything looks ligit about this figure, EVERYTHING.... but these subtle differences worry me. Can somebody, anybody PLEASE shed some light on these box variations for me and explain the differences. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!! I have spent HOURS looking for these answers and have come up short. Thanks SO MUCH!!! Can't wait to get to know you all... Jon

Yes there are both an English and Chinese version.

There is a KO version, but it is packaged in Robot mode, and has a picture of Bumblebee on the front where the Autobot symbol should be.

I've said it a hundred times but, thank you for maintaining your site it has helped me keep from getting ripped off time and again.

I saw a note on you counterfeit list that Zhong Jin has made accessories and paperwork KOs. I never saw these on the sites that sold knock offs or on i-offer.I guess I have a few questions and was hoping you(or anyone who reads this) could answer:

    1. Does a complete list exist for the weapons and paperwork?

    2. Where are these sold?

    3. Has anyone documented the differences between the KOs and the legitimate pieces?

Just trying to stay informed here. Thanks to anyone who can help with these questions.

Hey whoamidri! These two guys sell the stickers:

    tfkingdom
Miscellaneous Action Figures Toys | eBay

    doufaceb
    doufaceb | eBay

I don't know if anyone sells the KO weapons or instruction booklets anymore. There are so many of these, and the differences are so small, that it would be pretty difficult to figure out the differences for all of them. :-/

Thanks for the info. I've seen those stickers a million times on ebay, just never knew who made them. It's a scary thought that some of the weapons and instructions I've picked up over the years to complete may be knock offs, but I guess them's the breaks.

I wish there was some more practical way than going through every post in a megathread to find the information you're looking for.

It would be so much simpler if this was placed in it's own section with threads for each figure.

highendtfs.com is your solution :)  Not perfectly organized, but better than this thread, and way more info.

Yeah, I don't approve of knock-offs. But considering the cost of the G1 cars that haven't been re-issued in MISB condition vs getting a KO that might be just as good quality. It's worth considering. Also, I put this on Hasbro & Takara a bit for not getting their molds back. They need to OJ Simpson on these companies, but without the getting caught on tape part.

    Confused about purchase

first reply on forum ever here. So I recently got into transformers a year ago and love G1. I learned of a store recently that dealt in transformers so after a couple purchases of my favorite autobots I picked up a G1 mirage and sideswipe. I have heard a lot online that mirage was on of the most Ko'd figures, and although I like the guy that runs this shop and he claims that they inspect all the g1's that they're authentic. I'm just really spooked on mirage because after looking online a bit he almost looks too clean as well as having the extra supported spoiler and being a bit stiff. Can't posts any pics yet cause I'm on my phone at work. But everything apart from those two qualms seem legit. I really appreciate any help anyone can give.

It was loose. I've seen enough of the ko boxes online that I generally know what to look for to see if legit. What throws me off is that it has the gas circle thing that I haven't seen the ko's have. I had my gf take a look after reading 2 article to get a second opinion and she thinks that maybe his top half is legit and bottom is fake. Like a hybrid?

I've done some Google searches and turned up no sign that United Scourge has been KO'ed so I just want to double check before I buy one from China, are there KO's of Takara United Scourge on the market?

Seems that for a while, there have been a lot of cheap Aveo Swerves from sellers in Hong Kong and China. Did he get a KO?

I already have one in my collection, but I was thinking of getting another.

I bought one a few months back, it appears to be legit. Tight joints, great paint apps, instructions are well printed. He even came in a little plastic bubble inside the bag.
