Not bad. He looks like a decent mold (great bot mode, OK alt mode) but he could use a bit more color. Some more silver or white is needed to break up all that blue, for sure. And the inclusion of only one missile is disappointing. Dude needs two, one mounted on each shoulder in geewun fashion. I'll probably repurpose the missiles that came with the iGear FP CC add-on set for this UM (will probably need to dremel the pegs a bit to make them fit 5mm ports).

 

Despite the lukewarm reviews, this is a MUST get for me.

 

I'm not sure why, but I like Ultra Magnus so I will be getting this figure. But what is up with the red roof on the cab? That looks awful to me.

Also, OP, do you have a picture of the box art that you mentioned?

 

Its the same pic used on the top trumps card. Theres a link in the cyberverse magnus thread. The pic even has the same mistransformed leg wheels seen in the stock photos.

 

Speaking of the box art, I can't seem to find and purchase that UMagnus Trump Card. No luck at Ebay. Anybody knows any info where to obtain one, let me know.

Transformation is simplistic, but I've seen worse. Like that the wheels and forearm sections reconfigure nicely. Were it not for the skinny thighs he could pass for a generations figure. I can live with that.

Bland paint schemes can be fixed with Reprolabels and some sharpie work I think.

 

my Ultra Magnus review [Prime] RID Ultra Magnus

 

I like Ultra Magnus but if I ever get this figure I will be doing some painting.

 

I found that giving him DOTM Prime's gun is a little better for him to hold. MY get a second for the other missile (or use G1 Magnus' missiles)

 

Magnus is a pretty cool toy. The arms can't hold the gun/hammer very high though but it's not a big issue.

 

I could see this as an Inferno repaint.

 

I might have asked this already, but can he hold his animated counterpart's hammer, or is the handle too thick?

Soooo if I had a choice between Magnus and Thundertron who do I choose?

 

I choose Magnus because he can lock his weapon without modify and he is not a "beard uncle" TF. I just don't like a robot with beard.

 

I'm getting neither, but I'd go Magnus. Thundertron's alt-mode of "What-HasTak-thinks-big-cats-look-like" just doesn't appeal to me.

 

Mine has stress marks not only on the wrist joints but some other places as well.
