I ended up picking this guy up as part of an eBay auction for the full GDO deluxe line-up in order to get my hands on his three wave-mates. Little did I know that only 2 hours after I bid on, won, and paid for the auction Hasbro would announce at SDCC that they were bringing this figures over to the US. ***FACEPALM*** I didn't see any other review threads so I kind of feel like the only person that actually got this guy or at least the only guy that actually got one and opened it. Honestly, there isn't a whole heck of a lot to say about him that hasn't already been said about one of they other FE Prime Cliffjumper figures. Here is my picture-less micro-review.

The head-sculpt is a decent representation of Generation 1 Cliffjumper, certainly better than the original classics mold which just used a repainted Bumblebee, but in my opinion it isn't as good as the War for Cybertron version. His signature horns feel a little undersized and the head as a whole is just a little bit two triangular. I'm not sure that there is any validity to my next claim but when I look at this the head sculpt detail it feels as if it is unfinished or just not a clean and crisp as it should be.

Now, the part that everyone is hating on: head does not look like it fits this body. In person, the effect is not as bad as it looks in the pictures I have seen so far, but it still just doesn't look quite right. The design of the character, more than the sculpt and engineering of the figure, just does not lend itself to the very square and mechanical looking head sculpt. The whole body of this figure is meant to look a little more fluid (dare I say "animated") while the new head on this guy is very cold and blank looking.

Last comments about the mold in general. The only other version of this mold that I currently own is the Japanese FE Cliffjumper. That figure is definitely on my top 10 list of all time favorites. My FE Cliffjumper gives me some difficulty getting into vehicle mode due to the side panels (robot legs) not wanting to peg in and stay tight against the rest of the body. I've read that other board members have similar problems with that figure and can confirm that some subtle maneuvering of the legs will make all the difference in getting it to stay put and look good. With all that said, this figure was for reasons I can not yet figure out, a way bigger pain in the ass to get into vehicle form. Going to vehicle mode the first time I simply could not get panels to peg into place anywhere along the front half of the car. It seemed as though every time I pushed on piece in tab-to-slot or peg-to-hole another piece would pop back out of position. Frustrating as it was I did finally massage the whole mess into place and it is now sitting nicely on my shelf where I'm afraid to touch or look at it.

Ending comments... If you don't have another version of this mold in your collection then this figure will be worth picking up down the road when it becomes a little cheaper to get your hands on, otherwise, unless you really desperately need a Cliffjumper to sit on your CHUG shelf I would let this one pass.

The headsculpt looks amazingly ugly and it doesn't fit the figure at all.

I don't need new pics to know this retool looks awful and I would have gladly traded it for a rerelease of normal FE Cliffjumper.

Hah don't worry you're not alone. I think the head sculpt actually turned out pretty good. I just didn't open mine because I don't feel like I need another plain red FE Cliffjumper.

Does the head fit on Classics Cliffjumper?

When the FE first started showing up, I edited an image to see what it looked like with WFC Cliffjumper's head, and but then the FE's didn't get released in the U.S.

Now, Hasbro's done it for me, and I like the headsculpt better than WFC. It's understandable for some people to not like the look of it, but I'm glad HasTak did it. I've always thought the blocky look of the FE didn't mesh with TF Prime's more rounded designs, and this fits everything I want out of a Classics Cliffjumper. Updated design? Check. Red? Check. Sports car? Check. Guns? Bonus check. Short? Check.

Again, I completely understand why this doesn't sit well with a lot of people. But I didn't want the entire first page to be all complaints.

I'm glad it got made, and think it looks great. :)

If there was no such thing as TF Prime, or no Cliffjumper character in it at least, and this got released as a standalone 'classics' Cliffjumper, I wonder if people would still be so against it? Honestly my only real issue is the horns on the bonnet of the car mode. They're pure wankery.

Everything else looks pretty good from a 'Cliffjumper' point of view. Could maybe use some more black paint here and there but otherwise I'll grab this sometime if I can.

I kinda dig him after seeing him in person. Not mine, buy a friend's one.

I'll try to snap a few shots tomorrow of mine. Just got it today. For me it is definitely the turd of the four figures, but he is alright.

I'm pretty sure someone will post photos of it in-hand to supplement the text review.

I've only taken the one (pretty shoddy) snap of him at the mo, but having had him almost a week, I really like the guy!

He really isn't that far outside of the mythical 'Classics aesthetic', and having a unique mold from 'Bee is always a plus - so much so, i've retired my Classics Cliff from the shelf in-favour of this version.

And give him a Mech-tech gun. Cliff always needs a bfg (DOTM Lazerbeak's in this case).

I'm wondering if you can swap this guy's head and the WFC's head around to make a FOC Cliffjumper and a Classics Cliffjumper with a more suitable head.

I got my case yesterday, and opened Cliffjumper first, as he was the one I was looking forward to the least. Long story short, I haven't opened any of the others yet. I've just been enjoying the hell out of this guy. I can try to take some pics later tonight, but photography really isn't my strong suit.

Bottom line with this guy: I'm seriously considering selling Classics Cliffjumper, because I like this version THAT much.

    I know. I'm weird.

I think it would take some serious tooling, because unless I'm mistaken, GDO Cliffjumper's light piping and neck are one piece, and the neck connects to the body with a ball joint. Someone please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm with you on this one. Classics Cliffy I sold and he is the replacement. Haters gonna hate but he's a good update IMO!
