Going to reopen this thread because I received a figure with 2 left missiles. Looking to trade with someone who got 2 right missiles. I see Sam from earlier was the opposite of me, and I messaged him to see if he still needs a swap, but if anyone else is in that situation, message me.
I ordered from TFSource. I guess they send all of theirs back to TT to get the shoulders fixed. I finally got mine this week. The box was fine, but the plastic insert inside was crushed. The figure itself seems unharmed. I'm a bit disappointed in the thing overall. The intakes never sit flat on top of the torso. There's always 1/8" to 1/4" of space. There's a pin that sticks out, preventing the complete maneuver. Getting the cockpit/head/intakes unit to slide down is a huge pain, but it slides up with barely a touch. Whenever I'm fiddling with the arms or especially the legs, that section goes flying up. It's frustrating. The null-ray armatures are quite loose, even without the bulky pods attached. I'll coat the ball joints with some floor polish and see if that helps. The swivel joints just below the ratcheted hips are loose. I'm not a fan of the way his knees work in conjunction with the black strips below. The strips never fully emerge from the shins. I was very happy with the changes that MP11 made to the seeker mold. I know how good this toy can be. But the annoying QC issues and some inherent fiddliness of the mold prevent me from fully appreciating Ramjet's interesting new bits.
Just got around to opening ramjet, waited for Thrust. He doesn't seem to suffer from any of the issues that are common with the figure. shoulders are fine and he's a 1st run from bbts. just never opened him. I really like him and Thrust they are great updates to the characters. My only gripe is the painted die cast white no where near matches the plastic bone white. it also seems to like to chip easily.
Just picked him up from ToyDojo as a Black Friday deal. This is my first experience with the mold, and he's quite a delight. I love how realistic the jet mode is and I was very lucky to get a copy without any sort of QC issues, aside from the wigglyness that's part of the mold. I very much enjoy the null rays, and the paint and the sculpt is great. If I have a complaint, it's that his legs are very bulky, and he can't pose leg poses without the flight stand (which i don't have. I'd give him an 8 out of 10. Very good figure.
I thought he was a bear to pose at first, too, but then I realized he looks best (or at least most character model accurate) with his red back kibble folded up and tabbed in, giving his legs more clearance, and having his leg/wing kibble pushed down all the way and not folded back, giving him a sturdier base. Back kibble folded up and tabbed in like this... Just as pose-able as the other jets...
I bought a $40 Ramjet with the defective shoulders from BBTS months ago, and finally got around to doing the shoulder fix. I've had the MP-11 mold before with Starscream and Thundercracker, and held off on the coneheads because I didn't like the face sculpts. In hand, Ramjet's face is just as bad as I thought it would be. The wings hanging off his calves make posing a lot more difficult and the non-locking waist is majorly annoying. The mold is dated and really needs a V3 to add better articulation. For $40 I shouldn't complain especially since I went in knowing I didn't like the looks of him and the issues the mold has, but it's still not my thing.
I hear you. I also got mine for $40 + shipping but haven't gotten around to doing the fix. If you want a high quality MP Ramjet, pick up the high quality Yes Model (YM) KO/retool. I can't recommend that version enough. I bought mine when it first dropped and I couldn't be happier. Plus it comes with lots of extra accessories not found in the official Takara version. I only picked up the Takara MP Ramjet because of the deep discount. IMO it is not worth paying $180-$200 + for back when it came out, even with fixed shoulders.
