For the Transformers Go! series, Takara-Tomy released the four non-show Predacons remolded and with new heads for the Japanese market. These four, Gaidora, Bakudora, Budora and Judora, are collectively known as the Predacon Four Oni, referencing the Japanese superstition that the number four is unlucky. Each of the four features new robot mode heads and sharp new decos with metallic finishes on some parts.

We've got a nice look of three of the four here for you today courtesy of our photo staff member SydneyY! Gaidora is a reuse of the Lazerback mold, looking very sharp with a metallic green-blue hide. Bakudora is a metallic blue version of Ripclaw, arguably enhanced by the fact that the head can now be turned to look to the side. The leader of the Four Oni is Budora, a striking red black and gold version of Grimwing who features new molding on both his robot mode head and his beast mode head.

Overall the new decos and new molding takes what were already some good toys and really brings out the best in them. These are probably the best versions of the molds available - check out SydneyY's photos and see for yourself:

I didn't want any of those, and then I saw the new head sculpts. So tempting.

 

I rarely go for the Takara versions over Hasbro's, but in this case, I'm tempted. Budora is absolutely beautiful! I was mostly passing on Beast Hunters, but these guys are amazing looking. Maybe I should give the domestic release a try before splurging, though.

 

I have to get these guys.

 

Okay I hate go with a passion, but Budora looks beautiful, especially the face. It's reminding me a lot of Transmetal 2 Megatron.

Anyone else notice that Bakudora's head design is what they used on Skylynx in Predacons rising?

 

What the hell is wrong with the paint on top of Bakudora's dragon head?! Looks like it's peeling off or something... I really want one but damn, hope that's an issue with just that one.

 

I like that these aren't just rehashes of the Hasbro designs, but all new decos and headsculpts. I actually kind of want them. Between the remoulding of existing beast Transformers for the villains and all new Brave-style Autobots, this feels a lot like RID 2.0. Plus it helps that, unlike the Go Autobots, these new headsculpts aren't as generic.

I might actually get Budora.

 

I was going to post something identical. That mold is great, but that headsculpt puts it over the top.

 

Robot Kingdom's had em for a little while now (got mine a week or 2 ago), and probably still does. I really like the mold in general, but yeah... the heads on this guy are really great in themselves. The red is also a little darker than some of these pics let on, as well as being metalflaked which is also a nice touch.

 

I dig the dragon helmet designs they did with the new heads. That's pretty neat.

 

Seeing that Budora is red, black, and referred to as an Oni, he will be my Transformers Momotaros.

 

These look incredible. Slight exaggeration but damn good they are.

 

Budora was a part of the wave that was released at the end of August. Now's probably a great time to be looking - most online stores should have their stock in and if you shop around a bit, you ought to be able to find a good price on him.
