Been wanting to share pics of these guys for a while now - enjoy! Micronus with Cloudburst - Reflector @ TFW2005 Power of the Primes Cloudburst Power of the Primes Cloudburst with Micronus Power of the Primes Grimlock wielding Cloudburst Power of the Primes and Generation 1 Cloudburst
I remember before PotP was announced, I was joking to my brother about how now that they've done combiners and Headmasters, the next logical gimmick to revisit would be pretenders. We had a good laugh about it. Only a month later... In all seriousness though, the Prime Masters are an interesting concept. I've got the whole first wave and I think Metalhawk is my favourite of the group. They're not quite as good as the Titan Masters, as you say, but they're still pretty cool. Like the Titan Masters, I'm going to try and get the lot, at least until they pull a Ramhorn on us.
The Prime Masters seem like neat little figures and the most logical update to the Pretenders that Hasbro could've come up with, but I can't help but feel cheated out of proper figures for the Primes (All of them).
I’m actually counting this as the “canon” Micronus figure as it were, as he’s supposed to be tiny. The rest though, I tend to agree.
Can G1 Cloudburst use PotP Cloudburst as a weapon, too, I wonder? And yeah, I care nothing for the 13 Primes gimmick, I just will use and call this guy as Cloudburst himself.
I believe all the original 1988, larger sized, Pretenders have 5mm peg hole fists, so yes! Here's 1988 Skullgrin holding Prime Master Skullgrin Tweets with replies by Trasufoma II: the eclectic boogaloo (@Trasufoma) | Twitter
I like how the Primemasters shells are more designed to be comparable to humans, as they should be. They also give us more ways to play with the Titan and Leader citybots. The weird hybrid Powermaster gimmick, though, is not quite as cool. I think making them the heads of the 13 Primes would have made fans happier as they could then stick them on various TR figures as a possession gimmick. I know you can do "symbol head"...but...ewww...
I loved the Titan Masters, those were fun toys all around, they actually transformed and were useful to the Titans Return line in general. With POTP, I haven't really cracked the code on what the point of these Prime Masters is, they don't enhance the other figures at all, they seem entirely predicated around an imaginative play pattern that doesn't truly fit a collector-focused line like Generations, and they don't fit an existing storytelling pattern from G1 quite the way the Powermasters did. That said, I ended up buying Micronus and Vector Prime when Target had the 10% off sale, and I don't dislike them, I just don't quite get the point of them. There's some charm in the pretender shell gimmick, the weapon modes are welcome even if they are woefully simple because the prime armor takes away any weapons for the voyagers and combined modes. But they still really don't seem to have a use, they generally look worse than nothing when attached to prime armor, and I get hung up on that. It's odd that the pretender shells aren't generic fit, that any prime master or titan master can't wear them, but I guess it sorta makes sense too, you don't want other characters going around pretending to be them.
Perhaps, but none where the thirteen could be present or made into figures. This line was the perfect opportunity to release them, what with the title, premise and gimmick being about them, but instead we got nameslaps on Pretenders...
Nothingformers. Awesome. I can see these ending up at the dollar store, sooner or later. I\'d actually have trouble telling the difference between these and GENERIC ROBOT POWER FIGURE. But hey, for those that complained about PotP Grimlock not having a gun, at least these kind of serve a purpose.
I bought at least three Cloudbursts and I've replaced the Micronus with some of my spare Titan Masters and then gave them to figures who either needed a targetmaster partner or needed more dakka.
