That was an enjoyable Season’s Finale! Season 2 is not that far away. Today at New York Comic Con 2011 the team behind Transformers: Prime teased us with things yet to come.
We’ve heard of Tony Todd’s involvement with Transformers: Prime before and on today’s panel we received the confirmation that he is indeed voicing Dreadwing.
Also, celebrity actor Nathan Fillion (Firefly, Saving Private Ryan, Serenity) will voice a Transformer. At the moment we do not know exactly what character he will be voicing for.
Quite a lot from the panel are considered as Spoilers. Therefore, take a look at the juicy news… after the jump. Characters
Characters such as Starscream and Soundwave are different from their Traditional Aesthetic. Focused more on personalities and humanizing the looks enough, while maintaining the Alien aspect.
Tony Todd is Dreadwing who has a really compelling character arc.
Nathan Fillion will voice an unnamed Autobot or a Decepticon. But it will be a guest character.
Unicron is NOT the Earth. Our planet merely formed around Unicron.
Dinobots may appear [They sure will…].
Though Starscream may look feminine, he has been given a look indicating his cunning personality.
Miko is not dumb. She merely let her adventure-side get in the way of common sense. But she learns from her mistakes and will have strong character development in Season 2.
Yes, Airachnid is a homage to Blackarachnia. But are totally different characters.
Soundwave will eventually talk… and Bumblebee too.
Scraplets will return in Season 2.
Andy Pessoa who is voicing Raf is hitting puberty. [Wonder how Raf will sound like in Season 2?]
Wheeljack will return.
Bumblebee’s muteness will be explained in early Season 2. “A terrific two-parter that explores how Bumblebee lost his voice and all of the ramifications of that.”
Arcee is blue because Jack would look silly riding a Pink Motorcycle [URL=http://www.tfw2005.com/transformers-news/transformers-prime-39/transformers-prime-nycc-exclusive-gallery-173531/#tfw]Ditto[/URL].
New weapons and abilities… eventually.
PlotMore Earth-Cybertron relationships [Planet-wise, mind you].
Opti- I mean… Orion Pax to receive the Decepticon Insignia.
Autobots will leave earth [most probably for a brief period of time].
We will meet a lot of new Autobots and Decepticons. “You might see some robots that don’t necessarily turn into vehicles” says Hasbro Studios’ Mike Vogel. “Look for the return of Wheeljack and Starscream, the latter in an arc that Capizzi said is, ‘so cool it gives me chills’ “.
A certain character will return with a huge entrance.
More backstory in Season 2.
On the subject of character deaths, Kline stressed, “Anyone can die,” with Capizzi adding, “The body count as been upgraded in Season 2.” Show-wiseCharacter Designer Walter Gatus is now working with Jose Lopez. Prior to Transformers: Prime, they have never drawn robots.
Jose is impressed by the commitment of Ploygon Studios. They treat the script with great respect.
The team is worried of cancellation. It a usual fear, not just for this show. But they were shaken after what happened suddenly to G. I. Joe: Renegades, which was a very good show.
Multiple episodes are always in production at different stages. The Hub decides when to air the episodes.
[Regarding Optimus joining the Decepticons] The plan was to satisfy fans, “but take it in unexpected directions. What happens will be pretty unexpected, but pretty organic” says supervising producer Duane Capizzi.
IGN has more details for you right here.

I'm hoping that Jetfire will added to the show, because Team Prime really need some air support against Starscream, Dreadwing and the flying Vehicons.

Season 2 New Characters?
Well, It's good to have Wheeljack be back in Season 2. But I did'nt really like Starscream's looks at the start, he's skinny, feminine and looks like he's wearing high heels. But I got used to it.
Soundwave as a silent character was an excellent idea, he's sneaky and watches over you. Will he have more deployers other than Laserbeak though?
Dreadwing? I hope this is not like what James Avery said that he will be voicing Silverbolt in TF3. But if he really is going to be in the show, man just think how creepy he will be with Tony Todd's voice.
the backstories will sound interesting, we'll be introduced into a whole universe of Transformers.
Stepper
Starscream is sure becoming more & more skinnier as times goes by from G1 till TF Prime series.
meirelle
Welker would be great, but personally, I'm hoping they somehow recruit Dr. Smoov.

Dude….. Awesome news out of the TF: Prime Q&A.
me likey.
jettyfire
It will take 5 episodes probably for optimus prime to get his memory back or join the autobots again. I really want to see him playing basketball. That was my favorite moment in G1.

I was trying to make plans to meet up with you on twitter, derr. I wish I knew what you looked like, I was asking random girls at the panel if they were you. XD
Greyley
The panel was pretty great. They gave us lots of neat info, and almost all of the audience questions were decent. The only time I was embarrassed was when that one guy got his panties in a knot over the exact makeup of the Earth's core.
My favorite tidbit was the reasoning behind Arcee's color change. Fandom had all these ideas about how they were trying to avoid stereotypes and trying to make girlbot toys more appealing to little boys and whatnot, but the real reason was simply that Jack would look like a loser riding around on a pink bike. So if Miko had been her partner instead, Arcee would probably still be pink…
And the character designer seemed genuinely surprised at the question about Starscream's face-chest. Apparently it IS just a coincidence. Huh.
This would be a good time to post this:
Personally, I see Starscream's physique as more like Anton Ego; the tall skinny pointy villain archetype. But I can see where people get the feminine feel.
Cool, that was you? Kudos for the good question! I wish I had known there was a meetup after the panel. I bolted after the panel because the 3G connection was such crap down there on the bottom floor.

IF by the inclusion of the Exodus book in the finale is an indication of following a line of history from the books, we could see Bots not autobot or decepticon from Velocitron and Junkion or maybe more planets (as I'm only to the junkion expedition right now). I just dont know why Hasbro puts out Ratchet and Bumblebee, but leaves out the mythos core "A-List" characters like Prowl, Jazz, Hound and Ironhide. Seeing as how even in the books, these are Primes 2nd in command at any given moment. Bulkhead gets a mention in passing, but Arcee is not even in the books. Or the games.
I think its possible to have a larger contingent of Autobots and still maintain the idea of them being on the losing end of the war. Why cant we see a core command group and a hundred or so refugee background characters and "working class" characters. Just land an ARK on earth at the base with refugees, and viola you've added characters AND the drama of protecting them with a now even more rationed supply of energon.
Stardust262
I suppose Starscream could team-up with the Combaticons, but he can't build them since their in FOC.
Actually, I think it'd be cool to see a few combiners in season 2: have Starscream team-up with Bruticus, MECH build Devestator, maybe Megs bring in Menasor or Predaking.
shadow2879
could be
tfprime32
nathan filion swet from "CASTLE" he is a funny guy! i hope what ever character he plays will be funny just like Castle!!!!!! cant wait oh

Sideswipe80
Which Dinobots? All 5 or only Grimlock and 2 others?
Sideswipe80
Wow Shadow where do you get this info? Any toys for the Quints and Dinobots?
ILoveDinobot
Yeah, the article didn't even mention the Starscream clone question. They did say they were toying with the idea right? That got me excited.
Shadow25
I did not film it, but was there. Fillion was discussed, not confirmed. There's a difference. They did not also say that the Bee-speech two parter would end with him speaking, necessarily, as I have also seen erroneously mentioned.
ILoveDinobot
OK seriously, there were like 5 people filming this panel, someone post it so we have the correct info. Because this firefly person was not confirmed.
PepsimusP
Okay, so we've got Gina Torres, Adam Baldwin… and now Nathan Fillion! All we need now is Alan Tudyk (who has already played a TF in Dark of the Moon), Jewel Staite (who has done voice work in cartoons before), and Summer Glau (who has some… er… experience playing killer robots), and we'll have all the Firefly characters I care about.
Of course, I'd trade all that if they were to get Joss Weadon to write an episode, but… that's just dreaming.
exomega255
don't believe anyone ever said Miko was dumb and stupid. Just immature, and never learning from it for whole 26 episodes.
Sprocket
And I would too, if he wasn't a waste of a character.
I would have called them out on his poor character development, but it was either the Prime panel or a panel with H. Jon Benjamin and David Cross. How could I pass that up?
