I'm not sure if there is a thread for this topic. Anyways Is there a video game you like to play but doesn't recieve general positive reception?

For me, it's X-Men Destiny. Now really sure why but I like playing that game.

Alpha Protocol. I've played through it four times on PC, and I bought it on PS3 when I found it cheap with the intention of Trophy running it. Goddamn I love that game.

In my case I dunno if it's "everyone", but for certain, I love the Motorstorm series and all of my cousins hate it. Honestly, I think they just suck at it, but that doesn't change the "hating" fact.

Earth Defence force 2017 and Lost Planet 2, I don't care what anyone else says, I just love playing those games and shooting giant bugs
Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising, all of my friends hate this but I think it's fantastic
And most people I know hate Fable 3, but it's one of my favourite games ever

    I got a few!

Advent Rising - This game seriously effen sucks! Its all wasted potential back on the original Xbox, but when you play as a character who uses quantum physics, bending space and time, and guns, you ARE a badass. The concept of the game was fantastic and the story was incredable, but the game play, and the graphics were pretty bad. I loved the game still because I could stomach it and enjoy it, it was suppose to be a trilogy but the game bombed with a win a million dollar contest that never paid up and... I dunno what else, the game just wasn't. I'll never see a sequel to it, and the ending is such a jaw dropping cliffhanger with a twist to it that would make M.Night Shamaloingblahblahblah (I dont know how to spell that name) blush.

Alpha Protocol - This game wasnt bad, but I think that expectations of the game are misunderstood. People would try to play this Action/RPG like a Gears of War cover shooter. Your pistol would be mega inaccurate over a distance (surprise, just like IRL compared to a rifle). So unless you kept your aim on a target for about two seconds, you pistol shots would spread. The graphics coulda been better, and lots of delays pushed the game back from being perfect. The game had minor annoying bugs and was just a overall turn off. I play it though and I enjoy this espionage action/RPG, its fun, the story isnt bad, and if the dialogue is quite intense, the villain is kind of skumbag you want to put a bullet into, and love the fact that once of the dialogue choices is a threat to kill him, makes me feel like a enraged badass.

    And also.....

Any flight simulator! Among my local group of buddies, everyone always say no one cares for them, they dont make enough sales, etc.. etc.. etc.., really makes me feel alienated :(

    Sonic the Hedgehog 4.

I admit that Sonic's lack of forward momentum is pretty weird, but I really liked the game.
It's as long as Sonic 3, and it has some cool elements to it.

The bonus levels really took me back to 1993.

    Holy Crap!
I totally forgot about that game.

They made a huge deal about it -there were all these commercials for it and then it reviewed horribly.

So they never had anyone win the contest?

Nope! That's another bad stain on the game's record and why we probably wont get a sequel for it.

I recall once that there was a comic series of it launched that was going to be a prequel to Advent Rising, which this comic line came out some months after the game, which all I can say is whoopie fucken do, who cares what happens before when you have a cliffhanger like that one!

There was also suppose to be a PSP game too that starred the female main protagonist. That didn't get off the ground either.

Put me down for Alpha Protocol as well. I'm not going to deny that its undercooked and overreached, but its dialogue system and sense of choice over story progression is something that everybody should have learnt from.

Not so much games people hate, it's games people have almost never heard of. Having spent 20 years in the arcade business I'm fond of some obscure games.

Haven't played much of it, but Sonic Unleashed seems to be a pretty solid game.

Not so much an "everybody hates it" case though, because user reviews for the game actually seem to average a pretty decent score, at least a 7.5 of 10. But "professional" reviewers panned it, in their continuing snub of modern Sonic games or whatever.

But no, the daytime Sonic stages are a blast, and while the "Werehog" thing is odd (I'd almost guarantee that the game would have gotten better reviews if it were just Knuckles in the brawler levels instead of a mutant Sonic), there's nothing inherently wrong with the gameplay in those levels either, other than it being essentially a God of War clone. Game runs smooth as butter, no apparent glitchiness, sharp graphics and style, great music as always (probably one thing Sonic games can never be faulted for is lack of a catchy soundtrack). My only real complaint about the game being some rather long load times on the PS3 version, but at least those are only at the beginning of levels, rather than having stuttery gameplay.

I would have to say Halo, everyone of my friends at school hates it...probably because they suck at it and i'm really good at it. That said I always beat them at the games they play all the time and I never play, or even own (CoD)

That's because it's "cool" to hate the popular games, so that guys can act like they stand out of the crowd, and believe they're a more intelligent gamer with a sense of "taste".

Yeah, fuck those guys, they suck.

I wouldn't say that Stardust is a game that everyone hates :)
