So today, I noticed that TRU had a buy 2 get one free and I happened to have 2 GDO figures I didn't open. For a whie I was going to try to make a perfect FE/RiD Cliff Jumper.

So I ran out and got the GDO cliff jumper.

So step one, swap legs. Yay, leg swap real easy. GDO Cliffjumper now has proper Prime CJ legs.

Step 2, swap head. Wait, WTF is this?!?!

GDO has the ball joint on the figure like all fucking figures do. Fucking RiD has the ball joint connected to head!! Really, WTF?! I have never seen the ball joint connected to the head instead of the figure!

So needless to say, this is an Epic fail! So annoyed. It would have been a perfect Action master CJ.

I also thought I could have saved money and not need to buy FE Cliffjumper! Dr. Wu please make the FE head for GDO cliffy, so we can have the FE CJ for ourselves!

Out of an Epic Fail comes a Hat Trick of a Flawless VICTORY. The trick is to use 3 CJ instead of 2. Find out how to do this in this Radicon thread.

The other amazing thing about this who thing is that it can still work with your Prime collection in all forms and not really seem that weird. Since Megatron raised the forces of the dead, these could all be different Autobots that at one point were related to CJ whatever back story you want to do for these fallen Terracons that rose due to Megatron's treachery!

Best part, is if your TRU still has RiD CJ on the shelves, you can go today 12/1 and do a buy 2 get one free on all deluxes. Total cost of all this awesomeness is $30. Less then the cost of FE CJ.

While busy fighting the Vehicons, CJ does not see the two Terracons that are about to attack him from behind!

Why not just buy FE Cliffjumper? He's one of the cheapest of the lot and there are 4 versions to choose from.

Almost ALL of the Prime RID deluxes have the ball connected to the head, rather than the head plugging into the ball. A few of them don't...Rumble, Ratchet I think, and Soundwave. It sucks if you're trying to do head transfers onto other figs.

    Megs and Optimus don't count.

They're either not RiD, or not Deluxes.

Ratchet, Knock Out and voyager Megatron DO have the ball connected to the head. You are right about Soundwave and Rumble though. You can also throw in Starscream and Thundertron into the head plugging into the ball group.

EDIT: Just realized you meant the deluxe Megatron. Whoops.

What Soundwinder said. I was referring to specifically, Prime RID deluxes. I couldn't really tell for Ratchet. I thought he had his head on the ball...the articulation feels good enough to be the case, but I suppose that isn't true!

If you want, you could cut off of the ball joint off of RID Cliffy's head & put it on the GDO ball joint. Although since there is no indention, you might need to modify it a little to get it to fit.

Yeah, I was thinking about that, but didn't want to damage either of the figures. I may see if their are any changes I can do without messing it up too much.

Transferring the Prime RID head onto the GDO Balljoint is going to be a massive undertaking. You'll have to bore a space right into the RID head that's big enough to fit the ball on it, or you modify the neck plate to accept the RID balljoint. Either way it's going to require quite a bit of customization to really work out.

Ultimately the issue is how much articulation are you looking for. You can do a quick and dirty mod with a dremel and a drill bit and just bore a hole right through the neck plate on the GDO Cliffy, cut the ball off the neck post, and just plug in the head and secure it on the bottom with a washer or something. You'll get rotational movement on the head, but you're not gonna be getting up or down tilt with that. Still, it's very quick and dirty, and easy if you've got spare screws and small washers.
