Seeing how Transformers Prime takes its cues from many of the past TF series,comics,films,and games so after Prime ends would you like to see any future series take elements of Prime? Like maybe have an Arcee that's like her Prime self,Soundwave be a silent drone like character instead of a G1 homage,Knockout and Airachnid in different takes or like their TFP counterparts,etc.

Not really. I'd rather have completely new stuff than rehashing things from a mediocre series or going back to the mostly boring characters. I'm already tired of TFP forcing stuff from previous series in our faces. ONE SHALL STAND ONE SHALL FALL MEGATRON MUST BE STOPPED NO MATTER THE COST DARKEST HOUR DARKEST HOUR DARKEST HOUR STAR SABER. If you're going to do references, I'd prefer the way Animated did it in the form of easter eggs in the background while the main stuff is a brand new concept.

The same criticisms could be applied to FOC. Stop reusing crap from G1 and try something new please.

Well, this was the perkiest crew to show up first for this thread.

 

No, I want a path maker, not a path follower.

I don't want another series that feels like G1 2.0, I want one that could be looked back upon as equals to Beast Wars and Animated.

 

I voted "maybe", because it all depends what they incorporate and how they incorporate it.

I'd obviously like the hypothetical next series to be new and original (at least, as "new and original" as any Transformers series can be) for the most part, but as you said, they seem to like to incorporate things from previous series into each new one, so I'd be okay if a small bit of TFP trickled into the next series.

If they wanted to cast Combs as Ratchet again, even if he was a different Ratchet character, I'd be cool with that.

If they wanted to make a TFP-esque Smokescreen part of the main cast from the start (in a similar way to how TFP Bumblebee is obviously in TFP to represent Bayformers 'Bee), I'd be cool with that.

A speaking Soundwave that still transforms into a UAV? I'd be fine with that.

If a noble Dreadwing Decepticon character becomes a staple for that series, that's all right.

A Barricade that closely resembles a TFP Vehicon, sure.

It'd have to be little things. Little things that left their mark on the franchise, but don't crowd the new series with "HEY GUISE IT'S JUST LIKE TRANSFORMERS PRIME!!1!"-references.

 

Exactly what I mean. Just little throwbacks and references to Prime in the next show but not a complete remake like how Animated has small references to G1 and other past series. I myself would love to see a future Arcee that's based off her Prime self sometime in any future TF series and if they can get her voice actor Miss Motano to voice her again that'll again be sweet. Like how Burton re-praised his role as Shockwave in Animated.

 

  Little snippets of the movieverse (and LOADS of G1) in TFA, a little bit of TFA in TFP, etc.. That's the way it should be done, if at all.

 

Boils down to this. We don't need Transformers to forget everything that came before, but I don't want them to mimic everything either. Make the next series handle homages like Animated; Arcee has a little of Prime in her but also G1 and Energon, Knockout and Dreadwing are present, etc. Blatant homages just come off as forced; it really is the little things that count the most.

What I love about all of those galleries is that each one is identifiably TRANSFORMERS, but still manages to be it's own entity. If you want RotF Jetfire's robot mode with Armada Jetfire's alt mode and some new bells and whistles, go for it. If you want to make Wheeljack look like Wheeljack and DotM Leadfoot's lovechild, the more power to you. If you want your Soundwave to be 50% G1, 25% TFA and 25% new ideas, please do.

Elements of the current series will show up in future series whether we want them to or not. They always do.

 

Honestly, what does Prime have that ISN'T already in some other generation of Transformers?

 

I'd rather not see stuff from Prime in the next series. I want the next series to stand on its own, to explore its own ideas. If you need Easter Eggs and references, then they should be hidden in the background for the fans to discover rather than have the references shoved in our faces. I don't want constant rehashes. I understand the need for some familiar characters, like Bumblebee and Starscream, and Optimus and Megatron aren't going anywhere, since they and their struggle embody the series, but it doesn't mean you have to do a paint-by-numbers portrait.

And as for quoting old dialogue, I want less "One shall stand, one shall fall" and more "Time to find out." More new dialogue, less recycling.

Transformers is a franchise unique in the fact that it can reinvent itself on a level that most franchises flinch at, all while maintaining the all-important core of Optimus vs Megatron. It can explore new ideas, refine old ones, and evolve as needed. That's an ability that needs to be taken advantage of.

 

I wouldn't mind them making references to past series, but they should try to bring back some stuff that isn't that well expressed such as some of the lesser 'bots such as Gears, Powerglide, Dirge, Astrotrain, Springer. Also some of the basic ideas such as Energon cubes, characters that could control others like Mindwipe or Bombshell, as well as some abilities like Hound's holograms. Another good idea would be cons like Reflector but instead of size-shifting into a camera, they could combine into like a cannon or ship. Just a thought.

 

There needs to be something new in a Tformers franchise for once. So no.

 

I cant really see anything that I would want Reused in the next show. Not meaning that It's a bad thing, I would just want some newer ideas

 

I've believed for a long time that we need to be even more original, and have a show without OP and Megs at all. We had plenty of series like that for years, then suddenly they came back and never left.
