Recently I read an article on IGN, which states that the release date of Ninja Turtles will be pushed to May 2014. The reason for pushing the release date to May, was that they had some script problems. Just wondering if this will effect the production of TF4. I know Bay is just producing Ninja Turtles, but I was just wondering if it would have any effect?

I don't think anyone could bear to watch two bad Bay movies based on beloved 80's cartoons.

i dont think it may affect it, but who knows, heck even steven spielberg have produced and directed many filsm that came out same years, so its likely bay may have no problems

I actually hope TF4 gets delayed. The more time they take with the movie, the better.

 

I say cancel this TMNT movie. Possibly the worst Bay idea ever. He just needs to stick to his moneymakers, Transformers and Bad Boys.

 

No, and unless things go smoothly in production, I'd fully expect another delay.

Besides, Bay isn't directing and only contribution is his production company, so his actual involvement will be little to nothing either way.

And Transformers is big enough that if it is ready for June 2014, it WILL be Paramount's priority.

 

If Hasbro can let GI Joe 2 becomed delayed until next year...

 

With the exception of maybe The Island (and without getting into really specific BO numbers), pretty much anything Bay does can be considered his "moneymakers". He may make sub-par movies, but he's quite the businessman - hence why he keeps getting gigs in Hollywood. You want the most bang (and a lot of the time, quite literally) for you buck? Go with Bay. Want your movie to come in on time and under budget? Get Bay. You give him $150 million to make a movie? He'll give it to you for $143 million. He knows business, he knows money and he knows what audiences will eat up. He's an efficient businessman. Now if he could be an efficient storyteller...

 

But TF and BB had sequels, that's why I consider them his biggest cash cows.

 

I thought TMNT was put on hold indefinitely.

 

This film with make secret of the ooze look like a masterpiece.

I think it's unlikely that it will cause a delay.

Some producers are hands on and other producers only seem to put their name on a film. So with some of the films that Steven Spielberg produces will have that Spielberg touch while other films feel like he never even went to the set. Bay doesn't really have to be a hands on there every day producer to get the Turtles movie out.

Plus after having to push both GI Joe and World War Z back Paramount may be putting on the pressure to get Transformers 4 out on time. They really messed up and Paramount was out of the summer season of 2012 with a mega film so they almost need another Transformers to be a big hit for them since they don't have many big money makers at the moment.

Sadly the only thing that can save us from an eh re-imagining of Turtles and Transformers is if some of the end of the world nut jobs were right for the first time.

 

I hate Tmnt now.

 

Weirdly enough, I think Ice has found more work in the last year or two than in the last decade.

 

They had sequels, yes, but that doesn't automatically make them his biggest cashcows. The Transformers trilogy is obviously his biggest BO success(es), yes. But just because BB got a sequel doesn't mean it's his biggest moneymaker. Armageddon, Pearl Harbor, heck, even The Rock all made more than the BB films. It's just that they aren't the best properties to try and make sequels out of.

James Cameron made Terminator and T2, but that doesn't mean those are his biggest cashcows.

To aid Ash here a bit, there are films like Transformers and The Adventures of TinTin where Spielberg's influence was quite significant, but then there's films like True Grit or other Dreamworks films where you'd never guess he was involved. Spielberg's name is attached merely because he is one of the co-founders of Dreamworks. He's there to help sign the checks and to make a press-statement or two. Would you ever think JJ Abrams was involved with Morning Glory, the comedy-drama with Rachel McAdams and Harrison Ford about news reporters? Well, he was one of the producers. Guillermo del Toro was executive producer on both Puss in Boots and Kung Fu Panda 2. But I doubt many people noticed their "touch" in those movies, if there were any. I have a feeling that Bay's involvement with Turtles probably didn't go beyond him having a bit of input and it being his company, similar to the "cheque signing" analogy above.

 

Mindless explosions and almost non-stop action works for a TF movie... at least the box offices say so... disregard the lack of substance or plot... they're a successful franchise.

But to try and do the same for TMNT? Not gonna work. Especially not when they get rid of the Mutant, Turtle, and quite possible the Teenage and Ninja aspects... I mean really... how is that anything tangentially Turtles then?

Oh that, and well... using another franchise to attempt the Bayformer formula has already proven bad... Battleship anyone? Sure TAiNT would be Bay-directed unlike Battleship... but yea... it'll tank.
